Please make it a requirement to level PLD or/and Warrior before accessing Dark Knight

I have no problem with people choosing whichever tank they choose to play as first so long as they take the time to level it from scratch and learn it.

that's exactly what i did. i started with DRK, but not in Haukke, but in Sastasha. i wanted to learn how to tank, not simply rushing to max level. when i hit lvl 50 i was running every single lvl 50 dungeon before i continued leveling.

when i had to level PLD or WAR first i would have never bothered with tanking at all. today DRK is my main class and i touched PLD and WAR only for cross-class skills...

Level 30 PLD or WAR that doesn't have tanking experience with other class will also be bad in most cases. Skipping those few levels barely affects one's skill with a class. You have literally one defensive cooldown, what "skill" can you have in using it? lol

Thanks for the replies and feedback on the situation.While some were to some degree ignorant some have been quite helpful.I agree to one comment that there is an issue with many classes for example i think it was a very bad idea to start red mages and Samurais at lvl 50.Some of the earlier dungeons that arent experienced so much through Dark are the earlier level dungeons.Sometimes they will pop in leveling roulette but these dungeons are important because they teach tanking pre tank stances.
I would expect anybody who mains tank to be aware of this.
i am also aware that since Stormblood classes were made more noob friendly and a lot of skills removed and the whole cross class system got an overhaul.Probably to accomodate having less keys to bind for console players.

I just in regards to comments of it's your fault for not helping them how to tank.
I've always helped players with advice on tanking.A lot of the time it gets ignored.I had an instance today in DD where i tried to explain the pulling mechanics and boss mechanics to a tank who said it was his first time.The player knew perfect english and i wasted a lot of time trying to explain.They ignored everything i said and even pulled bosses while i tried to explain and nearly got locked out.
I also had a trial today where the tank went offline on purpose when he found out some of the players were new to Emenation.Despite only doing the fight once myself i tried my best to explain mehanics to the new players.
Even back when mentor came out at first i was explaining fights to people to help them and even leaving and rejoining as tank when the mentor tanks left on purpose because they didnt want to do the fights.
I'd appreciate people not passing judgement on me when they dont know my deeds.

You've been complaining about new dark knights in post 30 content. You know, the content where tank stance is always available to be in if you want to or need to be in it?

If people insist on snapping back at you for your advice, kick them or leave. Or consider that based on you flat out calling people ignorant for disagreeing with you, maybe the issue is with your language.

Anyways, I'm going to keep helping out every new tank I encounter. It's an investment which pays back.

Going to have to disagree with you, Derio. Us forum dwellers tend to forget our skill and investment into the game is higher than your average player.

There are a lot of players who don't know what they are doing wrong. It's not that they are bad. It's that they are uneducated. If you offer to help them in the right way, they'll listen. If they turn out to be a trolling jerk, there is always the kick.

I don't necessarily agree. Every dungeon up to 50, and even most of the lv50s, could be done with 3 dps and healer well before HW expansion. Tank not required. So how's content that doesn't even require the party to have a tank going to teach a tank how to be good? It's not about the content, it's about the player. You either want to be as good as you can be or don't.

The bottom line is that you can't teach someone who doesn't want to learn. If they blow off your advice it's on them, not you. You did your part, right? I generally don't say anything unless someone asks, since it's either going to fall on deaf ears or they think you are talking down to them and get defensive. I'll worry about making sure my static peeps are improving because they are the ones I play with every week, randoms in DF are one and done and it's generally just not worth the stress. Pick your battles, ya know.
