Why are you still playing this game?

I play this game still for many reasons.

There's one friend I want to be with and stay for, no matter what happens. I care about this person very much and I don't want to give up on them. And those that know me, it's not who I'm with a lot. It's actually her sister I want to stay for. And yes, it is a female...

I stay for some of the challenge. Some "end game" things.

I stay because I don't have much outside the game minus a job and it kinda takes my mind off a lot of things. And adds so much more...

Mainly because I want to. It's the bigger answer. I'm not bored with things and I have a lot to do. I like the crafting, the gathering, the content, and walking around Eorzea. I'm not tired of it. Plus I'm always looking for secret areas for myself. And my friend.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. Destructive posts help nothing. A suggestion for change is NOT destructive. Everyone has a right to be heard, but sometimes the response is: "and? what would you like us to do about it?" The post that Rinuko is responding to sounds like whining and doomsaying. *blah blah game is dead* *blah blah no content*.. no examples, no helpful suggestions, just negativity that everyone has heard before.
I fully support people discussing change, but someone just coming in here to say the thing I like sucks and implying I'm foolish for liking it? Nah, give that one a pass.

Crticism =/= negativity though.
I can be a downer and contribute nothing valuable. To clarify : I understand both pros and cons are necessary for true development, but nobody needs someone who just gets on a message board and posts "it sucks"

I play because just about any fantasy world is a lot better than the real one we have to deal with most of the rest of the day. And FFXIV's fantasy world happens to be very pretty (probably 50% of my in-game time is devoted to hunting pretties).

Ultimately, I play for the raiding. If that weren't present I'd probably drift away from the game, as in the past. I don't even raid much relative to my total playtime (and we're pretty bad at it, too, which extends the shelf-life of content), but it's the glue that holds everything together. I enjoy pushing myself to improve in that context.

To that same end, I just find group content to be fun. Particularly as a healer, I actually enjoy the challenge of picking up the slack for others.

I play out of habit, and with that special someone. I'm not really happy with the game at the moment, as I feel Stormblood hasn't introduced anything new. We mostly do the same checklists we did midway through HW, but with slightly better exp gain and easier controls. It's even worse in a way, because verity and poetics tomes quickly are useless for veteran players, and they are the only rewards from half of the roulettes at level cap. I haven't touched 50/60 roulette in ages because of this. All of the little incentives they try to keep nudging us with I start to ignore now; wondrous tails and the challenge log aren't enough to do old content in the way the devs would like us to.

I think that when Eureka comes, if it isn't good a lot of us will be looking for new games.

I don't even know why I still play.
I just can't get myself to abandon my static I guess.
But right now, I'm honestly not having much fun with it. I don't like how they neutered the classes with the "redesign" for Sb.
I feel like my main class has never been so unrewarding to play.
I don't have any reason to do the new content, aka 24 man, since I was long geared out when they finally released it.
I'm kinda disappointed with the new classes, Rdm is incredibly boring for me and I was never interested in Sam from the start.
I basically log in for raid and back out after we're done.

I play because I really enjoy the MSQ and I'd like to see where the story goes. I also really enjoy crafting and gathering and trying to get more gil. I like decorating my house. I like roleplaying with friends. I'm not exactly an end-game oriented person but I do enjoy trying to do some of the EX content and such just for fun. Though my idea of fun isn't trying to progress through savage stuff - did that with coil back in ARR days and I absolutely hated having to be so dedicated. Ugh. I just want to get on and chill.

I play XIV for the same reason I play other videogames, and that is they entertain me and allows me to have some fun in my otherwise normally dreary days.
Reason I love XIV is because its an MMO which always evolves, and there are people to interact with and such.

Most games like Call of Duty, Overwatch, LOL, Shadow of Mordor, Street Fighter etc is fun for a few hours and I dont play them again for months or sometimes even years as they dont have any staying powers at all

For XIV, I really like supporting devs that genuinly seems to be open and honest towards its playerbase, content is nice and constantly paced, main story in ARR HW and SB are really good, and I cannot wait to see where Stormblood takes us. Most people in XIV also seems way more mature and friendly compared to the normal toxic ones I meet in WOW and other MMOs. And the friendships I have made in XIV is also a huge reason I play XIV, as I can have a dreadful day in RL, log in and just hang around in FC chat and teamspeak and my sad day melts away
