What is with this game and half-naked women as bosses?

On topic: I still cant remember any male boss that looked like eye candy. Xande, Titan and others are far away from sexy. At the same time I can already count Shiva, Garuda, Sophia, the bosses from the 24 man raids like Cloud of Darkness, Echidna and more as kinda sexy female bosses and this is just by thinking about it for a short time. There are probably still more of them.

eww... I don't know what you are into, but Echidna is not sexy, and shiva/sophia are designed to be beautiful (for lore reasons, not eye candy). Saint Shiva (while not resembling the primal), is known in legend for being Hraesvelgrs lover, and thus the worshipers would naturally create a very feminine figure (that I don't know if you have notice, is fully clothed) as per the legend. As for sophia, do I really need to explain why "the goddess" is beautiful?

Feminine beauty and allure is a character device that is difficult to attribute to a male (especially in a Japanese game, as the anime tropes are fairly concrete). Male nudity is usually attributed to power rather than allure, and creating allure from a male is very difficult and out of place when it comes to enemy design. The far easier thing to do is create female bosses that attribute power rather than allure, if "equality" (feminine allure is not any less than masculine power, so I don't know why equality comes into this, but anyway) is what you want to go for, give us Adel from FF8:

To answer the question I'de say because they are verry pretty. Even if I'm a woman and for equallity I'de rather fight Sophia who's design is really beautiful and elegant than....that ^^"


Plus I feel it gives them a kind of powerfull aura, like "these women are half naked so "easy target" yet they manage to kick your ass so hard your big armour is not enought" (but that's probably just me ^^")

Plus plus, most of them are goddess in a way and artist tend to represent goddesses (depending of the culture of courses) with not a lot of clothes.
Why ? because in most cases artists are men and a woman's body is a beautiful thing they like to see ^^

While I agree that the Anime trope exists and imo is at points holding back media, Square Enix has proven to be capable of showing male sexiness. And to be fair, it's rather easy to do so. All you need is to make them shirtless. Shirtless Sephirtoh from VII. Jecht from FFX. Weiss from Dirge of cerberus. Golbez had a Shirtless costume in Dissidia Duodecim.
It's harder to create characters such as Kuja with an androgynous beauty. I also think The Emperor in Dissidia (FFII) is very beautiful. And he is fully clothed. Or his form when he reigns over heaven which I thought was BEAUTIFUL http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/E...r_Soul_PSP.png

I don't know why you think equality should be created by stripping sexiness away from females rather than creating new sexy male bosses. Is that so hard to accept for you? Also Adel was dank.

Gotta disappoint you but I am not into Echidna or any of the other others females But all of them look way more human than most male bosses. Even with Echidna the first reaction of the alliance was "look at that booty". She does look much more like a monster in her combined form but put some human legs there instead of the snake body if she is split from the other two and she will look quite sexy. And I am sorry but Sophia is sexy. Every thing from her clothes, to her hairstyle and her body screams sexy. (Also being sexy is nothing wrong or means that you are naked. You can be fully covered with clothes and still look sexy.) If you dont want to call her that and want to name it beautiful instead, well go along, still does not change the fact that there are no or barely any male characters like that.. (I cant say that I remember any male boss that I would call sexy/beautiful..)

Really I dont want to sound mean but I dont understand why you are arguing so much in this thread? The OP did not say in his post that he wants less of these female bosses or that they should wear more..all he and others like me wants is more equality by having male bosses like that too..And I am not sure why you are trying to explain to me why they look like that? I dont really care ^^; (And just because something might have a lore reason behind their look, still can have eye candy as second reason and Shiva is wearing something that one does not wear normally in public, take away the shoes and the clothes on the arm and you have something you can wear at the beach imo)..I even said in one of my posts that I have nothing against them. I just counted them to show that there are much more of those than male versions.

And for a male boss: Take the upper body of any of the good looking NPCs like Aymeric or Haurchefant, stick some monster parts on it, like a snake tail/arms, ears and you will have a good looking but still kinda inhuman boss. Or if you want some more grotesque bosses just tone down the muscle. Bosses like Xande might look sexier if they had less.

In the end I find it kinda hard to accept that a company like SE that has lots of good looking human male main characters in their game, especially in Final Fantasy, cant somehow create them for inhuman bosses too. Sometimes I kinda take on my full sarcastic side and just think that SE fears that some of their male audience might feel less manly with beautiful male bosses.

Either way... I wouldn't be too concerned with that. The male bosses who wear barely anything are... meh. Unless you're into bodybuilders or something. What bothers me is that, although male characters have some skimpy sets of armor, we don't have enough if compared to female characters. We have to get creative and sometimes skimpy stuff won't be in the MB, like these shorts I spotted at the Sea of Clouds the other day and could never find in the MB (don't even remember the name at this point). As a result we have lots of men running around with the light steel subligar. Not only that but glamour restrictions... As a SCH it's difficult for me to find something more "appropriate" that still reveals enough, like those DoW shirts with a very deep v-neck.

Anyway, for you straight men and lesbian women, at least the female enemies who are mostly naked look rather enticing. As a gay man, I can't say the same for any of the male foes. And knowing a lot of women, I don't think they would consider bodybuilders as eye candy (unless, ofc, they're actually into that).

Can't really blame them. The thread title is poor at getting the point across and the last couple pages is mostly discussion on design and how you can design female models differently and they'll still be female or something. The actual topic got derailed a long time ago.

"Can we have more half naked men as bosses?" sounds way better than "What is with this game and half-naked women as bosses?"

Expecting people to read beyond the 1st sentence or click-baity title is rather difficult nowadays.
