    Leveling roulette, Cutter's Cry.

Level 60 tank immediately left after the Duty began.
Went in as MCH with a NIN friend. Our healer seemed to be fairy new (to healing at least), since they messed up sometimes and constantly apologized for everything they did (or not did).
Anyway, luckily, a tank from my friend's LS joined us and even though there was the occasional wipe, we managed to clear it rather quickly.
Then we got to the Chimera.

I didn't really pay attention to my party members and before I noticed it, they were all dead. It was a bad mixture of people not dodging stuff quickly enough and our healer stressing out (didn't really want to blame them, since they appeared to be new).
Luckily, the Chimera only had like 20% HP left, so I proceeded to sprint, run in circles, use Invigorate, shoot some bullets, get hit and use some of my potions until the boss died.
I guess it was karma saying hello because I always complain about leveling roulettes being boring as hell.

Well as a tank main, unless its a12, i tend to keep LB far far away from anything i normally press. Sadly, this means that when i DO go in as a melee DPS, I am both untrained to even register the LB gauge exists, and lack the muscle memory to just hit it. not to say that I CAN'T, but.... LB just isn't something I naturally notice.

On top of that, when I DO notice, and it IS LB3 time..... well, I use it. and then you know what happens? failed mechanics. every single time I ever use it. and then the alliance is dead. and now the healer can't insta-res and I get chewed out. "Who used the LB!?" "The DRG wasted it!"

SOOOO... yeah... LB ain't so easy for me.

4-mans on the other hand? If we have it, I dump it in my opener. It helps me to not forget, I have buffs up, 100% of the LB potential damage gets dumped. gives time in the fight for it to refill.

Same thing here for my BLM butt. Yeah, mage LB is better than no LB at all, but I'm just used to let the melee do it. And if there are no melees, I'm used to let any other mage/ranged do it 'cause I'm too busy casting my Fire IVs I really like mage LB tho, and today I try to keep an eye on the gauge more actively, because when learning Sophia EX on heal, I missed a good portion of opportunities to save my party from wiping by using heal LB

On an entirely unrelated note: I love A10s but how on earth does the meteor break through the ceiling without, well, breaking it?

This gave me a little laugh...

I recently did an A12n through DF, with a couple people on mumble. I normally hold onto LB3 til around 10% or lower, in case, you know, anything happens and a healer might need it. Well, it's A12n, why would a healer need it, it's easy, right? .....at 45% I was yelled at to use LB3. Exact quote - "DRG LB!" and with a sigh I did, and as soon as it went off my internet goes out. No less than 15 seconds later (when I get re-connected to mumble) the people I'm in mumble with start telling me about the wipe that happened right after LB went off. Apparently I was blamed for using LB3, caused the wipe, and they vote abandoned. I laughed and said "Well, it's a good thing I used that LB at 45% then!"

As a dps (DRG main) I know when to use LB and when to hold onto it. I'll tell you right now I won't use it at 45% on a raid boss, easy or not, unless I'm being yelled at to use it. If that's the case, and I'm being "forced" to use it, do not blame me if something goes wrong at 10% and there's no LB3 for a healer to use.

Expert roulette as DRK drops me into Xelphatol. As I load in, I state that I'm new to tanking the dungeon, and that people should keep an eye on their aggro-dumping skills. Mainly because I'm still not perfect in tanking, still using the Padjali weapon in DRK vs the Kinna/Shire weapons I usually see on DPS, and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Anyway, the SCH then buffs us up, and promptly leaves without a word. Okay, then. We quickly pick up another SCH, and off we go. The DPS in question were a MNK and SMN, both with about 20k HP, so not bad.

I promised the SCH I would wait for Stoneskin and Adlo between pulls, but that plan was kind of shot to hell in my haste to practice my strategy of sprint-pulling + all the Abyssal Drain spam in the world. It's worked out for me pretty well.

Also, people started running ahead of me and I kept having to grab mobs off them. There was that.

Anyway, I found DPS a little slow, but nothing to really wonder about. Usually when I run as BLM, I see bosses die in less than 2 minutes, but in this run bosses seemed to be taking 3-4 minutes. Not that much of a difference, but a noticeable one, nonetheless. I just kept wondering why.

Then, at the last boss, where Garuda was summoned 3 times, I finally saw it: The MNK wasn't using Fists of Fire (or indeed, any fists at all) and never seemed to have Twin Snakes up. They also ran out of TP due to the prolonged fight. Meanwhile the SMN was staying above them in aggro the whole way.

I know MNK has no aggro-dumping skills, and that I'm not all that great at maintaining aggro as DRK, but I can't help but feel that there is a better way to handle that conundrum than deliberately crippling yourself.

As the kicker, we finished that dungeon in about 22 minutes, so the SCH who ditched at the start was still waiting out their penalty. And we never wiped. No one even died, although the MNK came close at the second boss, because they deliberately stood in front of the boss and ate an On Low, for reasons unknown to me. Props to the replacement SCH, who knew how to play their job.

Seeing and having these kind of issues pop up make me think I need to start holding off on passing on the gear, least they can't be kicked when items are being rolled on.

I remember there was a thread someone started complaining about people wanting strats to be handed to them in the instance... Well, I have to say I have finally met someone who asked for exactly that. His words: "what is the strat to this fight?" We were in Shiva Extreme. So I responded with "if you were going to ask that, you should have looked at a guide (beforehand - I omitted this cause I didn't want to sound overly rude to the guy)" and he then proceeded to try and watch one while we all stood waiting. How cordial of you, good sir...

Needless to say, we got nowhere and someone bailed. Party fell apart. The end.

Did some Sophia EX farming yesterday on SCH through RF. On my last run, I got an AST in noct as a cohealer. I said "diurnal please" while getting buffs up and he said "no." So fine, left the shielding to him. He died to citamanti aoes, I ressed him, he went flying off on a tilt then DCed.. A wipe happened a bit after, and he never returned, so we all left. What an immature jerk.

Been off for a few weeks, come back to A9 Normal go as ninja, I had only played it for max 1 week before I had a few weeks off. Ik we all have our moans but the other ninja tried to pull me up at the end for accidently using doton twice during the fight when I meant to use suiton (I just entered it wrong) like seriously dude? It's A9N, there's genuine moans and then there's just being petty, all that aside he had 0 savage drops and I'm clearly not a noob (mentor status was on). I'm half expecting to be pulled up in a few more runs for prematurely refreshing a dot

@Hiro, I feel your pain. Yesterday I was doing Tails duties on my GF's account and she has her mudras set up differently from mine. After I was done with her Tails, I queued on my ninja for leveling and got the Vault. As the gate drops, I went through my mudras to huton and...oh my god. A doton. I dropped it on the entrance, completely embarrassed. The next couple of pulls went fine but as we were about to go into the big long hallway, I did my mudras again for huton...NOPE, DOTON AGAIN.

I dropped it around the corner and went down the hall. "Don't look at me!" I said aloud, as I headed for the mobs the tank had pulled.

"They can see it right on your status bar," my unsympathetic girlfriend laughed.

"I know, that's why I said don't look at me!" I said. Totally embarrassing. Then it occurred to me I could have dropped that doton on the whole pack.

    Oh, well...
