Going from disc to digital with Stormblood

So when I first got my ps4, I was dead set against having digital games. I wanted the physical copies of eeeeverything. I managed to find the physical version of Heavensward, So I have the disc for that, but ended up buying the digital version of Realm Reborn.

My views have shifted since then though, and i've started to prefer digital for my games.. quicker to start up, and I can have multiple games playing suspended in the background.

Anyway, the point of this thread... When Stormblood is released, I would like to get it on digital.. My hope is that if I get stormblood digital, then I will no longer need to have the heavensward disc inserted in my ps4 to launch the game, since i'll be using the Stormblood icon to access it. But Since the heavensward disc is needed in the system to play currently, I dont know if the heavenswards data is actually on my ps4..

So i'm trying to see if anyone out there had this same scenario with Heavensward.. purchased a Realm reborn on disc, but got the digital copy of heavensward.. And if you did, were you able to play without the Realm Reborn disc?

Huh, it's all saved onto the PS4 regardless if it's a physical or digital copy... isn't it?

All mine have been physical copies and never once have I needed the disc inserted to play the game :v

D: It does for me... countless times i've tried to go into FFXIV and it stopped me because i forgot I was playing a different game earlier, or someone else had put a different game in there and didnt tell me.. I have to have the Heavensward disc in before It'll even bring up the launcher.. Which i'm trying to get away from with Stormblood..

I'm still very much in the physical media camp, but I'll buy games digitally if they're only online anyway. If the servers ever go down, having the disc won't do me much good (see: my poor Xbox 360 FFXI discs).

That's because you have the disc copy installed.

If you just delete your install, go back to your Library, and look at FFXIV, there will be a download option. Use that and you'll download the digital client, and you'll never need your disc again

Did you look in the "Purchased" section of your library? Because the "All" category only lists all currently installed games

Saw that after I posted my previous statement. Its downloading now :3 So this solves my problem anyway, and i'll have no issues purchasing Stormblood as digital. Thanks so much for your help, Ashelia.

Go digital. Most of it is downloaded on the PS4 anyway and ffxiv is not that Gb heavy.

So Cinno, just so I'm clear you were able to go digital by deleting your disc install and downloading the game from your PSN library?
