To be fair Ninja was released before HW, so it would not have made any sense to start it at 30, and it's pretty much the "thief" of this game, it just evolved to ninja.I feel the new classes should start at level 1.
We were told that restricting access to the expansion to new people was a mistake, and that they wouldn't do that again with this expansion. In Heavensward, you already had to have a level 50 class in order to pick up one of the new jobs. If people can get to (or even start in) Mor Dhona, then the new classes can't be started at level 30.
Did everybody forget about Ninja? They started at level 1 as rogues.
50 or 55..... to start at 30 or worse lvl 1 would really be lame because the queue times for lower dungeons are horrible especially for dps jobs. Also, level 1 is for newbies not players who will be ready to walk right into 4.0.
FFXIV will always be pretty straight forward for most players. I picked up DRK, AST and MCH like it was nothing. So there is no need to start at level 1 or even 30. At the very least the new jobs should start level 50 or level 55. Why anyone would want to start at level 1 is beyond me especially when you cant even run any dungeons till level 15. Fate grinding and leves is extremely boring especially from level 1 to 15.
Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.
Level 1. You're meant to gradually get into the swing of how your job plays before you're running around dungeons, no clue what you're doing, and making other players' lives hell. Sure, you'll always get players who will never be good, but at least you get a higher chance of them being slightly better. Unless they make FATEs give 30000% xp at low level which will ruin this argument.

The way i see it, there are 2 posible patern. (Levelcap - 30). Or (levelcap/2). I am pretty sure at this point that the dev really emphasize patern for new content.
30 cause thats where every class becomes a job wouldnt make sense otherwise unless they release level boosting packs for old classes
1! and they should add 1-70 leveling zones to the new area
and then make the exp-pak standalone and allow new players to start there. Basically, create a new main storyline branch for new characters in 4.0..

Level 30, I mean seriously stop being lazy it takes a 4 days to 2 weeks for players to get a job to 60 depending on whether your a casual player or hardcore. Do you want them to mail you top-tier gear as well because farming gear is such an inconvenience, heck let's have SE introduce auto-actions like in FF13 to make your life even easier.

I will try to be constructive and serious instead of some reply i read around here about "it's lame" and such.
The level it will likely be 30 for a very simple reason many players already stated in this post. The classes our characters are currently gaining are "Jobs", not "base classes". A "Job" or "Advanced class" is something unique with memory data (kinda) stored in a soul crystal, that is why lore wise they can "learn" a new job with the skills unlocked at level 30. In the Summoner Job quest you can see how an Ascian gives to the black summoner the memories of the Allagan and the summoning magic to call forth a power long forgotten in time. That is how a soul crystal works, it gives the memories of knowledge about the job to it's user... A user that has to gain the right to recieve that knowledge.
My money is on level 30 for lore reasons.
And i really, reaaaaaaaally hope it's not level 60. I want to learn to use the class and unlock the skills, i dont play a game to have everything done from the start.
And story wise the jobs should be unlocked inside the Stormblood expansion, unless they plan to add the NPC outside that area it makes no sense to gain it before advancing to that point of the storyline.
Edit: We have also to be aware of the changes on the combat/skills, like the "Role Skills" they talked about in the fanfest. That intrigues me a lot.

we have to deal with level 1, i doubt many people actually WANT to. Because since almost every class actually starts picking up at 30, below 30 is just "ugh, i want to be 30 already" i know as a CNJ 1-30 the only thing i learned was how many times i could spam cure 1., oh and stone 1. Yea, i had a blast..
DPS jobs were no different, you got 1-2 actions, and you spammed them over, and over and over and over...untill 30.
