FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

What would be the point of releasing a new race that wouldn't be?

Mostly just for story reasons. Like, how the Garleans are not playable at all, and viera could easily be written as something the elementals created. They could even make unplayable third tribes for some races like the Miqo'te like with wild cat fur-patterns, different heights, and muscle tone.

Beast tribes.

Yup. That style of gear goes back to the 1.X days, where gear was altered for every race. Miqo'te tails were given special treatment, for example. As for the rest of your comment, when you look at heels on certain gear, it sort of looks off. Heels would normally make us appear taller, but the ones in FFXIV do not. We all lose a chunk of our feet.

I can't see Vieras be ( only ) a beast tribe. That would ruin a great opportunity for a new race if the design is actually decent looking.


Imagine all the crying about housing and multiply it by a million if it happens.

Can almost think the same of the Au Ra. Dragon people who are bestial in appearance yet they walk around just fine. What would happen to housing exactly?

Not what I meant, we have backs of our shoes and viera's would just have to be standing on their toes. They can wear them just maneuver differently when using them. No different when we're walking in a forward motion and our heals rise as we step forward.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd prefer no more new races and them to focus on expanding upon current character creation. More races means less likelihood of expanding things in normal creation.

That's not necessarily true for two reasons:

• The FF-X Remaster came out at roughly the same time as Lightning returns, so they couldn't very well do two major crossover events back to back. The release of the FF-XII remaster doesn't seem to be colliding with any other major releases (though I could be wrong).
• Just because they don't do an event when a major FF game gets a remaster doesn't mean that they won't release crossover content at a later date. We get the Rikku, Lulu, and Yuna minions from this year's fan festival and I have a hunch that the mystery outfits are definitely FF-X related.

I guess I'm not all that surprised that this old thread resurfaced a year later since I was posting while Heavensward was still very fresh and the 2015 fan festival was coming up. I believe that I am still sticking to a realization I came to around last January which was that I don't want a "humanized" version of the Viera. In fact, they kinda tipped their hand for right now since hybrids exist in Heavensward. Which means it's probably more likely that we'll be getting stuff like Hyur-Elezen & Lalafell-Miqo'te combos if anything at all.

I dunno, the elementals and Padjal who have been established as the guardians of Twelveswoods and have never mentioned any lagomorphic race of any variety? Maybe we can finally see a Duskwight or Keeper of the moon settlements in West Shroud instead of hamfisting a race because this game makes a crap ton of references to other final fantasies constantly. Seriously, why add a new race that's role just effectively overwrites something that can be used for a neglected clan :\

Exactly. Also, people who anger the forest (or Elementals. Either or) will be afflicted with the Greenwrath/Woodsin, something which has been heavily downplayed so far.

Have you thought about asking the Live Letter panel about your point on neglected clans? It would be a good question. Well actually, nevermind they seem to take more Balmung related questions.

Lets get hope for a ff xii little crossover .

I keep try to think positive about that type of crossover .
