That's exactly where I'd see RDM shine.
Most people love the job for the complexity. In FFXI, it was the tough job to master, but when you did...boy, was it a monster...
Give it the same skill ceiling, not necessarily for extreme results but just for the sake of doing a liiiitle better, and earning the praise of the community.

You might encounter and forget dozens of RDM in roulette for awkward playstyle...but that one RDM who could use the right ability at the right time ? You'll remember it forever

And, seriously, if the goal is to make it a simple job to play (Because, let's be honest, not many jobs are really difficult), what's the point of doing RDM ?

Long Thread. I'm sure I'm just echoing a choice many have already asked for:

The only core Final Fantasy job missing is Red Mage. It's also the only one of the original Final Fantasy 1 classes not available.

This game already has a lot of classes and I think many more would just feel bloated. Red Mage is the one I'd really want to see. Since the game's overall roster is pretty well distributed (3 Tanks, 3 Healers, 3 Melee DPS, 2 Casters, 2 Ranged DPS), I would probably want to enter as the game's first true "Hybrid" class.
