Point to me how the bomb dance affects gameplay numbers. Does it increase spell speed? Strength? Control? Perception? Perhaps it generates gil?

Ever since the cash shop's inception, not a single thing has been added to it that affects gameplay statistics. You can whine and moan all you like about how "unfair" it is or how it affects RP or glamour gameplay somehow. But the fact of the matter is this.

Yoshi-P said clear as crystal that nothing on the cash shop would affect gameplay. And it hasn't. And because an emote was added, you're bringing the torches and pitchforks out as if you were suddenly betrayed.

You're fearmongering and hatemongering about something minimalistic. The bomb dance doesn't affect gameplay. It doesn't. I don't care how many straws you want to grasp at to say that it affects your personal gameplay, it doesn't affect gameplay in general. So don't even.

If you are this pissed off about an aesthetic thing being added to the aesthetics-only cash shop, then leave and go to another MMO. Because it's not changing, only the vocal minority of players actually WANT it to change with the majority being apathetic or against the idea of it changing, and to be quite honest, it's your attitude that makes this community so toxic that players not a part of the forums don't want to come here.

So seriously. Straighten the hell up. I'm sick of fire and brimstone threads like this popping up.

Yet by affecting my gameplay it does effect general gameplay, you can't define a MMO's "General" experience when it in it's core is designed to cater to multiple archtypes of peoples. The long story short some people are being told to get the most out of their subscription experience they need to pay above and beyond what other people do.

    That's not cool.

I don't have the emotes because I payed and skipped the events and I could care less regardless, doesn't mean I can't stand up and say the practice is rediculous. The whole cash shop is rediculous.

    1. It's "ridiculous", not "rediculous".

    2. I am 99% certain of this fact: If it wasn't on the cash shop, it would not be in the game beyond the event it took place in. Want evidence? The 1.0 tattoo. Give me that. Or the 1.0 Goobbue mount. Give me that. You can't, can you? Because it's from 1.0. It does not exist in the game to be acquired anymore. And I bet you that, if the cash shop didn't exist, a lot of the stuff you're whining about being on the cash shop would be whined about in regards to people not being able to get them anymore. Do not pretend for a second that they would just include everything in the same seasonal vendor. They wouldn't. Hell, people are begging for the Lightning Strikes stuff to be in the cash shop for this exact reason, which further constitutes my point.

Funny you talk about 1.0 stuff. Back in 1.0 it was tradition to release the previous years items on a vendor for a minor gil cost. The philosiphy behind it was it was exclusive to the event for a year and beyond that it was good content to keep in the game with no sense to remove it. There is no reason to remove the content from the game and to put it behind a paywall, the only "Sense" it makes is financial because SE marketing department knows people will shell out the cash for content removed from the game that they payed a subscription to make.

In all reality supporting the cash shop is supporting the removal of content from the game. Without the financial incentive to sell the products for cash they would most certainly find their way into the game as they traditionaly did, it would make little sense to not.

The legacy Tatoo and 1.0 Goobue are a tad different mainly because they were promised as exclusive items for 1.0 players, putting them on the cash shop would be the ultimate slap in the face to the players of that time, where as the seasonal events have no such promises of exclusivity asides the year the event happened.

But you know...to each their own.

This is the only justification they need. It's the same way PSN is a subscription service on the ps4. It's not necessary, but it's been proven people will pay for it anyway, so they'd be a fool not to capitalize on that. They're not going to feel bad about making money, and a handful of people on the forums going "tut tut, shame on you" probably isn't going to elicit any response from SE other than snickering behind closed doors. You can think it's not right all you want, that's your right to do so, but from a business standpoint, you're so far in the minority that you're safely disregarded.

Considering we have been seeing items come back to vendors to an extent in newly released seasonal events means they have noticed the customer apathy and are attempting to appeast it slightly. Wether I think SE will do anything or not is besides the point, minority or not I pay as much for the games subscription as cash shop supporters do so I'm voicing my opinion on how I feel it's a toxic business practice and does more harm than potential good.

Removing content from the game isn't my cup of tea, I'd speak out against them not bringing things back to the next years event as well if they made it unobtainable beyond that seasonal event that specific year. The seasonal events should grow with every year not remain a stock set of items and a ever growing stock of items in the cash shop for purchase.

SE has tons of ways to implement cash shop items into the game they have the PERFECT venu with the gold saucer, but making them unobtainable without paying above and beyond your subscription is content locking no arguments can prove it otherwise. Vanity for some people IS content and removing it from the game to place a paywall infront of it is bad form.

And that's fine. you're entitled to your opinion and voice it.

making them unobtainable without paying above and beyond your subscription is content locking no arguments can prove it otherwise.
But you must remember that your opinions are not facts, they're opinions, no matter how strongly you feel about them, and are open to debate. You can be of the opinion that the cash shop is content locking, but it's just that, your opinion. If the majority and/or SE disagree with your opinion, then that is their right.

Realistically, the cash shop isn't going anywhere for reasons I've already described. People are willing to pay for it, and they'd be foolish not to capitalize on that. It doesn't matter if you think it's right or not, they're a business first, and if there's a market to be tapped, then they're going to tap it. Them going, "aw gee, our players are so great we'll just give them this stuff in game" is a nice idea, but very naive.
