If tomestones are solid-state drives, then the tomeliths on Seal Rock are mainframes?

Didn't Fern state at the fanfest lorecast interview that Tomestones where USB drives?

Indeed he did.

They had USBs because Allagan Tomestones, all that information is in there. To a person 10,000 years in the future if there’s some kind of apocalypse on Earth and someone picks up a FFXIV USB that we hand out at a Fan Fest, or something, they’ll be like “What is this? This is some kind of strange stone!” and you plug it in and it’s just a bunch of my work documents. Some collector will collect them and give you great armor in exchange for them because someone has a little computer with a USB port on it.

To all the conversation about Rowena, it seems more likely to me that she's an opportunist. She's only loyal to one thing and that's her very own ever deepening pockets. Having said that, I do agree that either she (for the profit of having information to sell) or one of her more wealthy clients, has some way of reading these USB drives. She might even be offering discounts on the price of the tomestones to anyone willing to let her have a peek at their contents before she gives them over.
Just my 2 cents.

Now that I'm all caught up on the story myself and even run through each of Alex's parts I thought I'd add some new thoughts.
Rowena's quick isn't she? She really is an example of the merchant that's blindingly fast for the sake of convenience.
Considering the reputation and colouration of the tomestones I'd say that the equivalent for the next expansion won't be tomestones at all. With Law being 'silver' and esoterics being 'gold' we could see a 'platinum' tomestone come around. A finalmost one to be found throughout the 3.1 content and onwards.
Also, Azys Lla sems to be fairly well known, the Garleans and the four united nations have some involvement there now. There's nothing stopping Rowena from using a terminal to compile a database.
That's about all I can think of now, too bad 3.1 is over a month away, I am too keen for the Void Ark!
Cat! I'm a kitty-cat!
And I dance-dance-dance and I /mdance-/mdance-/mdance!

I actually wonder if we will learn more about her and Gerolt's past in future Relic quests. Rowena is unquestionably a ruthless business woman though I'd fall sort of calling her evil (apart from a certain ALC quest, damn her) but the whole interest in Tomestones makes me wonder if there is something in particular she is looking for. Even the guy who sells the stuff for the Zeta quest implies he is collecting Tomestones for Rowena.
I get the impression though the Relic quest was kind of an effort by her to inspire Gerolt out of his pot making and into something greater. I don't think she would easily predict that she would actually gain a great deal out of her sending us to get the relic made.

Well at least one of the relics was of Allagin (Or at least, 3rd Astral Era) origin (The Veil of Wiyu), and Gerolt is the guy starting the relic quests on the first place, it seems to be that ig\f Rowena is studyin the tomes, then she might also be interested in the Zodiac weapons as well
