I think a few things will happen. First, the game will probably have another small xp nerf when it's released on ps3 for the 1-50 levels, and the level cap will start to rise as well. I also think they're going to start/continue making jobs a bit more unique, so that the abilities set on one job take precedence over those from others (like with the recent same class ws buffs, and nerfs to cross class ws from pug/lnc/mrd).

It's also worth noting that some classes work a lot better than others without multiple jobs at 50. A tank really needs lots of options available to do well at this point, but a mage can get away pretty well without too many disciple of war traits. DD's definitely need traits from other DD's, but can do fairly well with a select few, and don't /need/ to have them all at 50.

Most importantly, all the new people coming in will be on equal footing. Hopefully there will be a lot of people, so they won't feel alone at all. It will be a bit like ffxi, which was out in Japan for a good long while before coming to the US. They had a strong headstart, but I didn't rage/quit or anything because of it. I thought it was neat to see them running around san doria with elemental staves, and it got me wanting one of my own, but it wasn't a bad thing.

The most problematic issue I could see is that it divides the community a bit. With the newer people making their own shells and largely (but not entirely) staying in them. I think that's a problem that would slowly fade over time though, as they get more jobs to 50 (or whatever the new cap is). ... In short it just doesn't seem like a huge issue to me.

How is this different from FFXI? You weren't fine with only a 75 job, you had to have several other subjobs levelled to 37, and it takes a lot less time to level subs in this game than it did in XI.
The difference to me is that here you need every subjob active at once to do your best, whereas in xi you only really needed a few subjobs to swap between, with the others ending up as very situational. So I do think it's a more time consuming process to get the best possible set up here than it was there for now. Not that I think that's really an issue.
