I had no clue this was a thing and I've never left when a dungeon started unless someone else did first. But I have been stuck in the little ring thing at the start of a dungeon for an annoyingly long time because someone DC'd during the CS... after already being in it for 10 minutes. It's perfectly understandable when people start to ditch because of that, especially if it's the tank, since you can't kick someone in a CS. It's kind of nice to know you wont be penalized for that right now.
Exactly that! I don't have time for DC's and/or roleplays.I had no clue this was a thing and I've never left when a dungeon started unless someone else did first. As for that whiner (on page 1) who felt the need to derail the topic talking about people leaving in cutscenes... hurry the hell up then! I skipped and currently skip all my cutscenes on my first go around. It's not rocket science, I'm not use PEMDAS to skip cutscenes... it's called Inns and I use them... here's a very simple reason why, I'm not selfish, you know the thing cutscene criers like yourself actually are. The thing is, with me or anyone skipping cutscenes it's this big fancy picture... we're not taking up anyone else's time. We're not the self entitled ones to feel the need to LOLWorldofWarcraftLOL 3-7 other people's time when there is INN that will play EVERY cutscene! The ones who are forcing people to skip cutscenes aren't the selfish ones. The ones who feel extremely self entitled to waste the most important thing in life (the answer is time btw) are the real selfish ones (or at the very least way more selfish then the pushers).
tl:dr your time < everyone else's as a collective. A lot of you need to realize you're not important. Don't compensate your lack of importance irl to here or any game.

I can sense the butthurt from here. It's not a matter of class difficulty. It's just there are more DPS to choose from than tank/healer classes, so naturally we'd have longer queue times. I'm sorry but when I play as a tank on a different character, if I leave a dungeon, I feel I deserve to have a harsher punishment because 30 minutes is nothing. Oh man...30 minutes and then boop! Right back into a dungeon. But nice assumption you had there.

As someone who rotates between all three roles readily, I have to disagree. DD requires the least amount of skill and effort to perform satisfactorily, and it's also the least noticeable when someone falls short in this department (except in 'DPS race' boss battles, which are rare until endgame anyway).I can sense the butthurt from here. Oh, the rage and qq on these threads is so amusing.
Back on topic, I totally agree that the penalty needs to be applied as soon as you enter the instance. Pretty sure we're getting a fix for that soon though, it's more of a loophole than a deliberate thing.
I have never been the first person to quit an instance. People who quit out because it's not the "right" dungeon, or they think it'll take too long, or there's a new person in the group are idiots, frankly. They're the reason I queue up as a healer for in-progress dungeons whenever I have some time where I'm not doing anything, trying to tip the balance a bit x.x
Actually, you're incorrect. As somebody who has played almost every DPS class to level 50 (only need BLM for that to be complete), it's VERY VERY noticeable. You'll notice DoTs not being used, enemies falling slower than they should, you'll notice everything. Melee DPS more than any other classes have to be played with skill and requires effort to keep their DPS up high. BRDs and BLMs I agree, not so much. But again, it's noticeable when a DPS sucks in 4 man content. Even in an 8 man you can notice it.As someone who rotates between all three roles readily, I have to disagree. DD requires the least amount of skill and effort to perform satisfactorily, and it's also the least noticeable when someone falls short in this department (except in 'DPS race' boss battles, which are rare until endgame anyway).

I do not know where this myth that DPSing is easier than tanking and healing is comming from. The only difference I see is that if you mess up it is more visible if you are a tank or healer but to perfect your role I can not understand how it would be any harder than tanking or healing.
More forgiving I can buy, but easier? Nah.
To be honest, you are both right. It all depends on the fight mechanics. Ifrit Ex. heavy on the healers, followed by tanks, thirdly DPS. Thornmarch EX, relies on DPS knowing what to do. Titan Ex id put more towards the tanks as they not only deal with the same mechnics as healers and DPS, but also have to watch and time tank swaps + the adds after heart/superbombs.I do not know where this myth that DPSing is easier than tanking and healing is comming from. So can't really say one role is harder or easier than the other in a general context.
You do realise it takes some longer to get out of Cutscenes even when they skip them? So someone on a powerful PC with SATA drives will exit the CS faster than a PS3 player even if they click to skip the cutscene at the same time.
Also it's you who derailed the thread
Players who, if it is their first time, want to watch the cutscene are playing the game as it was designed. Seeing the cutscenes in context gives a better overview of the story at the time. instead of disjointed. You want to watch them in the Inns, does not give you the right to dictate that others should also!.
See that horse your on? It's high, climb off it.
