You can glamour an individual item with the dresser.

Just pick a plate, save it to only have that one single item on it, exit out, equip the item that you want to glamour over, select the plate...

It is certainly more convenient and cost-effective in the long run as a replacement for glamour prisms, but I'd say it's a safe bet that it's not what anyone was expecting, nor what they wanted.
