PLD, with Relic, in Revenant FC rolled need on Garuda weapon... c'mon man!

I was in a Garuda df group, 2-3 hours ago, and we got a solid kill on the second attempt. There were two PLD tanks in the group, myself being one of them. They had his/her relic items (http://na.finalfaasdfasdfaasdntasyxi...e/achievement/ - you can see they earned the acheive for it back on 9/21), and I was sporting an Ifrit weap. I was excited b/c it's the first time I've seen the sword drop in 20ish kills.

But, he rolls need (http://i.imgur.com/Za5dsdfgsdfVBH.jpg - ss or it didn't happen :P ), wins the roll, and I'm obviously not a happy camper. I mean, other than for RP i guess, there is zero value in needing on this drop when you have the relic. You can't sell it, there's no achievement for obtaining it, and you can't turn it in for seals.

C'mon man!


* Okay, fine. Collecting is a valid reason to roll need on end-game gear you will never use except to admire in your armoire or w/e. Is this a traditional FFXI/FFXIV 1.0 thing? Not something I've encountered in other MMO communities...

I'm mad b/c it was a jerk move. Already prefaced post with I understand life isn't fair. Just behavior like this that makes people hate pugging instances.

I'm doing Garuda because I also want her lance.

Perhaps the player is a collector and wants to get one of each primal weapon for his class for looks. You don't have the right to say that they can't roll for something just because you want it.

Not the point. He had the relic sword already and rolled need on the Garuda sword which would be a downgrade for him. Everyone is free to roll greed all they want on gear that nobody can use. Don't think anyone cares about that.

Let me clarify (although I thought it was pretty clear already):
I have a lance relic. I also want a Garuda's lance for my collection. It's the only reason I'm running it, and I will need roll if it drops.

I imagine it's the same thing for that guy.

If you don't want to roll, leave party a stay only on parties with a WAR as a second tank.

He killed the boss. He can roll on loot.

This post is crying about it.

Maybe a good idea is to join a FC and idk *gasp* do Garuda with them to get gear, and not be carried by people with relics.

You can go back to Diabolos forums now.

Maybe he want to spiritbond it
Maybe he want to keep it for collection purposes

Or, or, *gasp* that Relic'd Tank shouldve grouped with his own friends for his collection instead of running with DF people who need the weapons more than him. :3

Exactly, I just think this is poor behavior in a DF group. Not illegal, just bad behavior.

He lotted on weapon cause gld can't use relic I got relic and im doing garuda for my sword for my gld. Other thnn tht I would pass and ontop of that vanity coming out maybee he Getting the style.

It wouldn't be a downgrade to use the weapon on Gladiator. Relic is job-specific so his would only apply to Paladin. His Garuda weapon win can be used should he decide to play as Gladiator. That may be unlikely but it's his right to Need on it for any purpose really.

Besides, not everyone inspects everyone and it is entirely possible he didn't even look at your gear. You assume he intentional tried to screw you over. If you have concerns about gaining a weapon drop, better to voice them prior to the fight. Otherwise, it's all fair game.

Honestly I would have passed if I had known it was an upgrade for someone else. But many people are selfish.

Again, this is assuming the Relic person knows that it is am upgrade for the other tank. People are too quick to place blame. I can say that I don't inspect other people before needing on items. But if they ask, I wouldnt mind passing. Like I said before, if a drop is important to you, why not be vocal about it and let others know.
