Looking for English speaking server (EU)

Hello, me (SCH) and my two friends (PLD / WAR) are looking for a decent server in the hope that server transfer will be some day enabled.

What would some good options be, and why?

I'm from NA but I've been under the impression that most people on EU servers speak English.

On our current server, Shiva, it may be that 95% of people can speak English, but most of the shouts and party chats (if you make a premade for a dungeon) are made in German.
Also most of the announcements for FC recruitment.

Bump, still waiting for a few options / replies.

During beta there was an unofficial thread suggesting uk and english speaking players go to moogle, so you might want to try there? I'm on Ragnarok and it's been ok, just the occasional FC recruitment shout in german or french.

You are wrong, atleast most people can speak and understand english at same point (my grammar is shiny example). However most germans and french players dont want (or dont know ??? ) speak with it , thats could be done due we remember just germans and french who dont speak english and dont recognize these who do. Also Its true that on shiva there are a lot of FC recruiting shout in german.

to the OP :
if you dont mind stay at shiva .get to "Mor dhona" inspect some players on their FC and try to /tell to their leaders.

Cerberus is perfectly fine

Depends if you are looking for "English" speaking or "EU English" speaking ie UK players.

Most of the NA/EU servers have english speaking players, but many don't have very good EU player bases.

Ragnarok and Cerberus are both EU designated servers, not sure what the ratio of English speakers is on either of those though.

On Odin, I've only ever seen German and French in shout, in recruitment messages for national FCs. I'm also in an endgame linkshell where a few people sometimes switch into german, but that's my own choice (it's a good linkshell :p )

The thing that actually annoys me the most is the sheer stupidity of people in shout (and sometimes in tells). But that has nothing to do with the game, only society.

It's really confusing, I duno why SE didn't just have a German, French and UK server, for EU players its really hard to find the right server with a suitable population.

Looks like Moogle might be the right choice for UK players though.

I don't know about FF14s EU servers but in most other MMORPGs it can be pretty horrible. Most can speak english but not very good, you just can't communicate properly. There's also more isolation going on; swedish guilds, polish guilds, russian guilds etc.

And that's just on an average server. Picking an EU server is like throwing dice. Some countries dominate the servers and I remember one time in WoW when I was looking for a good server to join I ended up scouting a server which almost exclusively had hungarians (I think). Most LFG's and Trade comments were in their language and some had "LFG X.. HUN ONLY".

It's a problem because many big "MMORPG countries" aren't very good at english. Russia & Poland are two major examples. Germany and France, well, there's a reason they get their own official servers in just about every mmorpg. Of course, this is just generalizations of my own 10+ years of mmorpg experiences.

I personally prefer NA servers because even although I don't speak perfect english, I feel that I can communicate much better than on an EU server. But more importantly, what is up with the 1000 character posting limit??? That's like five sentences!

Yes , there are some french people. English is the most used language on the server , ofcourse there are shouts in it french for FC/LS. There are many people from different country`s on Moogle , Holland , Belgium , Germany , France , Finland , Spain , Italy , Polen and dont forget Sweden , Norway and ofcourse the UK.

Why ? There are more then only 3 country`s in Europe. It doesnt really help if you only make 3 *country* servers. Bec many people from country`s that doesnt have French-German as language , wil all jump into the UK servers. You are only moving the problem.

Well I can appreciate that, but currently those are the 3 EU languages supported by the client so it makes sense in my opinon, other language EU players can still find a home on any of those servers just as they can now.

For example WoW doesn't have specific servers for the majority of EU either.

They could have a server for EU (other) also but we know SE, it's never going to happen, we would be lucky to get EU servers tbh.

Maybe after the Server Transfers are enabled, French people from Excalibur / Shiva / whavetever will move to the chosen Fr unofficial server. Same for German people who are on a server other than Shiva.
And so on.

You make it sound so easy ;) , but it doesnt really make sense. Bec there will be alot of hate too players of another country`s , at the start of the moogle server French indeed claimed the server as FRENCH Server and there were alot of useless *shout fights*. When I shout in it Dutch on a UK server , I will bet you that some wil start a lame shout war because of it. Now 1 month later : Everybody has there LS/FC too speak there own language in and outside they speak English. Except some French ofcourse :p. They claimed as there French server.

It doesn`t help in reallife , so why shall it help online ?

This behavior is the root of the probleem. People will claim and set there own rules. I dont mind if people call Unoffical , but for some they make it official and dont care about anothers.
