No wonder bards do meh dps...
Not sure why you say they do meh dps when every other threads complain about their high dps, but to answer the question, the accuracy is good for Coil (if you ever plan on doing it). You need about 450 acc to hit things in there.
I had been wondering about the Darklight since it seemed that every piece I added would reduce my Critical Hit Rate.
Anyhow, here's the breakdown between the two sets (the 5 main pieces).
ARTIFACT ARMOR
DEF/MAGIC DEF: +299
DEX: +50
ACC: +36
VIT: +52
DET: +10
CRIT. HIT: +83
SKILL SPEED: +14
DARKLIGHT ARMOR
DEF/MAGIC DEF: +386
DEX: +76
ACC: +89
VIT: +86
DET: +26
CRIT. HIT: +46
SKILL SPEED: 0
So in switching from AF to Darklight main pieces, you gain 87 DEF/MDEF, 26 in DEX, 53 in ACC, 34 in VIT, 16 in DET, but lose 14 in SKILL SPEED and 37 in CRIT. HIT.
A) Dex matters so much more than these other stats, you aren't "loosing" dps. Its a huge net gain.
B) Your life's purpose is to interrupt in coil. If you miss, the entire group may wipe. IMO you should call for more accuracy not less.
Yes, but 14 skill speed equates to almost nothing and 37 Crit is easily outmatched by +26 Dex.
As a bard with full dl, I was worried about the critical as well. To be honest though I am still up there on meters. You have to keep in mind we are supposed to be a more support class, not dps. The accuracy however is way over kill. I am at 518 and 429 critical. I also picked the tank ring as my second for a little more survivability over damage.
As posted above me, the added dex gives an overall boost to dps then the critical.
I was doing AK today and got scolded because i wasnt doing enough dps. Mind you i have a relic and full AK gear (Still didnt go for DL, im sitting on 1900 tomes atm trying to figure out if i REALLY want to spend them on BRD gear).
I feel like im gonna reroll to BLM very soon, im so sick with these trolls. IM SORRY I DONT CRIT FOR 1.8k MKAY??
yeah darklight is mediocre but head, body, feet are good. Work to replace pants with Relic and gloves with gryphon skin hands(though you'll probably want to grab Gryphon body first.)
All you should be looking at is the stat increase. It doesn't matter if it has more accuracy as long as it has better stat.
Dex is top stat (with a 1:4~ ratio compared to secondary)
Skill Speed is useless for us.
With that in mind, every part of DL is the best in slot before iLevel 70 HQ craft
Bear in mind that the statistics in Final Fantasy are quite strange compared to other MMOs. Stats on gear matter surprisingly little, in fact. +1 damage on your main weapon can be equivalent to 50 of your primary stat. Your primary stat can add 3 times as much DPS as any secondary stat.
Obviously for minmaxing there are differences, but when it comes to gearing you can't go too far wrong with just choosing whatever item has the highest Dex on it as that will almost always come with the highest defense, vit and overall secondary stats. Don't mourne the accuracy too much.
Also if you're being told you arent doing enough DPS in -Amdapor Keep- when you have a -Relic- weapon, either there's something drastically wrong with your rotation, or (likely) it's pure trolling from then. With that weapon, you should be outdpsing people even if you wore levle 40 white gear in other slots.
Accuracy you wanna be at is 460. Build around that and get your crit/dex/det up.
Darklight set is pretty good I have all of them except the gloves and pants(I'm using AF2), I still have toxotes gloves coz of the crit. In total I have around 478 accuracy and from what I saw from another thread discussing about it you need about 472 to not miss in coil. then I recently got Allagan bracers and lost some accuracy got me to 466. I actually missed a blunt arrow once because of that and the group got hit by high voltage
Also you'll notice that the other AF2 gears don't have much Accuracy but alot of crit so you should be thankful right now for the accuracy you have in the darklight set. When I grab another AF2 gear or get lucky and win an allagan aiming w/e that doesn't have accuracy I'll probably grab the DL gloves that has 16.
Not to mention the Vit def and magic def it gives. I'm close to 4k HP with it. Just worrying about your dps is kind of stupid IMO especially with all the aoe damage you'll be taking
Speaking of Allagan, it is a pretty worthless set. Only boots and necklace are good. The rest is full of wasted stat (skill speed) or inferior to AF2.
Just get crafted gears then. Problem solved.
Most physical dps needs 141 accuracy on top of your natural for coil but I've heard bards get like a 20 percent buff or something which makes them need very little. Yet another reason bard is the best endgame dps by far.
Yup , i avoided the DL legs ,going to buy the AF2 legs <3 that crit
150 DPS is not that awesome really, not for someone with relic weapon at least.
a relic geared bard should do at least 200, in my experiences at least...
Mind you, that i don't play BRD myself, i've only seen FC mates dps with DL gear + Relic weapon and he do way over 200.
So if 150 dps is estimated for relic weapon with AK gear, then i'd say that the DL geari s a desireable upgrade to do over 50 more dps.
How does the af2 gear stack up in reltaion to the allagan pieces from coil? Like whats worth getting af2 wise compared to the allagan? (will probably get all af2 anyway for looks) also is it more important to get relic +1 first or some af2?
Brace yourself, AF2 body is not for everyone looks-wise.
Only Allagan pieces I'd prioritize are feet, neck, and maybe ring... both the i90 rings are unique so it's not like you can have two Hero's Rings of Aiming, but I'm not sure how the Allagan ring stacks up against say, an HQ multimelded Gryphonskin Ring. We only get +1 WD and +4 DEX on the relic+1 upgrade if you're not hurting for accuracy (plus a bit of skill speed), so you could probably make a case for getting some of the other pieces first. Head and hands combined are barely more expensive than the relic +1 upgrade, so that's a solid move... legs would be a good choice if you're upgrading directly from Toxotes. Not sure about body, probably weapon before body. WD is very significant, yes, but we get a much smaller upgrade than most jobs by upgrading to relic +1.
Yeh ive seen what full AF2 gear looks like and find it highly entertaining. In fact the only downside for me is pink & green may not go to well (hat may cover more of my hair dont have my af1 gear yet to check).
Ive also seen that relic +1 isnt as much upgrade for bards as say dragoons (+3? WD and 4 str) so was wondering about priority there in relation to the AF2 gear first, which lead me to think is it worth getting my AF2 gear or allagan gear. Good to know i can get AF2 helm/gloves as well as the legs before my relic+1 depending on wat my gear is like at the time.
Seen a few posts in relation to warriors getting +1 or AF2 gear or waiting for allagan got me thinking of bard the same way.
It gives both.
So about that AF+1 chest piece eh? EH?!
You'll be thankful Bard is gifted with so much accuracy in Coil Turn 4.
