Dungeon Screenshots in Coerthas.

Some guy managed to glitch the map and ran into what looks like a dungeon: discuss...

Ok, you guys convinced me I'm going to get modded for posting the link so I'll just point you to ZAM forums, the topic is there under General Forums if you're interested.

Look like a wow dungeon just with ffxiv look don't know how i feel about it too i really play in it if it work just like wow then it be boring in a few weeks.

I just hope for the sake of this game that dungeons are difficult to finish and require teamwork.

i agree if it like wow and 100% the same way then it be boring for me i did to many dungeon in wow when i play 2month i pretty much got max level just doing dungeon it boring like hell and i try out wow few months ago i'm sick of it.

i hope it something new not wowish dungeon.

It looks like a typical underground dungeon, it even reminds me of Romancing Saga dungeons.

Honestly I don't see this happening. I think because this game is in rebound mode its going with the typical tried and true flare every MMO does now. I think for this game to be anything of what FFXI was (which was different on many aspects with respect to your typical MMO) it'll need years, not months. But I hope I bite my own tongue and the game does turn it around and stays unique.

Since I've never tried a WoW dungeon, i'm wondering, what is a "wowish" dungeon?

I mean for me, a dungeon is a dungeon, no matter the game it's always more or less the same formula so what's the thing that make a dungeon similar to WoW dungeon or in opposition what would make a dungeon different from WoW dungeons?

This game needs temples, it'll fill the world up nicely. Places like Ranperre's Tomb from FFXII, I think that would be awesome.

This isn't one of the dungeons SE is working on. It's just another zone that hasn't been added yet. Think of it the same way you see places like Nanawa Mines and Cassieopea Hollow. They're just extra areas that will some day have mobs, quests etc.

It is however a dungeon, just not the western use of the term dungeon.

Thats more of an underworld or a cave. The term dungeon is reserved for an instanced area with high level mobs/bosses.

^ the above is not limited to just western games.

Nald's Santuary.... It's pretty and all and I liked finding it. I am surprised not so many on here have found his or his brother's temple. the brother god's temple is near the entrance to black shroud from thanalan.

Not true though.

FFXI called any area that wasn't "Open World" a Dungeon, this included things like Maze of Shakrami, Castle Oz, Temple O, etc.

Basically anything you couldn't take a Chocobo into was a Dungeon.

That's not a dungeon, it's Nald's Reflection, a shrine northwest of Camp Broken Water. The monster it's just a mole.

That's right, you are told about this from a NPC @ Golden Bazaar. This shrine is exactly the same as Nald's one (hate to say, but well... copy/paste...) but obviously there's a large statue of Thal with the sword. It's called Thal's Respite.

The game is only 9.5gb, and about 3gb is just gears, mobs, spells, weapons. Then about 2/3rds of that is still unacceptable to us lol.

You seem to have narrowed down the definition of dungeon in a way that is very wrong to an old school gamer like myself. Dungeons existed in FFXI when there were no instances. Not too long ago the terms "dungeon" and "instanced dungeon" referred to two different things. I don't think it's safe to assume that the FFXIV development team, when referring to "dungeons" are limiting themselves to instanced content, though in the context of the upcoming dungeons it's very likely they will be instanced.
