GM's closing threads?

Hey there,

I'm very curious and concerned about GM's constantly closing technical problem threads.

Does anyone know why they instantly close the thread?

I was thinking they close those threads to keep the forums clean, but by closing those threads they're completely cutting off people that could have a solution from helping. Since we have no private message system in the forums or Lodestone, I really don't see how people could contact a user to help them with their problems.

Anyhow, if anyone could possibly help me with a graphics glitch here are a couple links explaining the problem:

It's the resized spells. Theyre supposed to look like that now.

They're supposed to have huge white blocks? O.o

I don't think so... I've only noticed this when I'm far away. Once I get close up I see the effects just fine. I don't believe those huge white blocks are supposed to be there. >.>;

Your ATI 5850 is better than mine and you run on much lower settings than me.

I run on
Windowed 1680x1050,
Multisampling 8xMSAA,
General Drawing Quality 8 (Standard),
Background Drawing Quality 5,
Shadow Detail Highest,
Texture Quality High,
Texture Filtering Highest.

Have you tried yanking up the graphics to see? Do you have DoF turned off?

Yes I have DoF turned off, and when I attempted to run on higher settings I noticed a significant reduction in quality and FPS. I'll go try that now, thanks so much Premium Virtue for bring up this point!

Delete and closing are different. I'm not saying they delete the threads, I'm saying they close them which I do not understand as it is cutting off other players that may have potentially helpful advice. ^^

I dont think it has anything to do with changing settings, I have had these blocks appear on the lowest settings, and the highest settings possible. The only time I ever notice it happening is when my graphics card is starting to heat up and I have left the game on for an extended period of time.

They closed it because it was brought to their attention, they've acknowledged it, and are forwarding the problem on to whoever in SE might deal with that.

As they said, if/when there's a solution, they'll post about it. Those forums aren't meant for discussion really, so they need to keep threads locked once acknowledged so that new threads coming in don't get overlapped by old & already acknowledged threads bumping up due to discussion.

I can understand that. Thanks for your point. I still don't agree with them closing a thread, but nothing I can do about that ^^

I thought that was the case as well, but it simply isn't true. I've noticed this problem with two completely different video cards and at different temperatures. I can't accept that my video card is just getting hot or extended hours because I've proven that both circumstances are not the case. These blocks occur when the card is hot, cool, when I've first logged on and when I've been on for a few hours.

Have you tried both windower/fullscreen? I'm just trying to knock out a few "circumstances".

I dont think its much to do with hot/cold because my friends card gets hot and his game just instantly closes, where as mine runs at about 50c and I've had this issue but it kind of just went away after restarting the game.

Does it happen with everything or just magics? or skills etc?

Yeah I've tried both window and fullscreen, same problem. I just tried cranking my settings up - I have no idea how you play with high settings hehe! My game was lagging every step I took! - Anyhow, it didn't help, there were still blocks.

I really think it's something wrong with coding and programing of the game itself. I don't think it was with the effects and spells being enlarged, because I had this same problem since beta.

It happens with the attack sparks on the mob, as well as spell effects. I think it has something to do with the range. I typically always play archer, so I'm farther away from the mob than most classes.

I have a pretty decent unit, and I never have as many problems with more intensive games than I do with this one.

Ugh who knows lol...

Speaking of resized spells they have to go please, especially the healing ones, everytime I'm doing behest I get lost in the effects, I kinda disappear in there and I just spam "Enter" and hope I'm hitting something.

Lol yea i know i just wanted to throw it out there :P

Ya whay your seeing is pixelated images. I have to have most of my graphics down due to running the game on a non gaming laptop so stuff in the distance is pixelated (see ps1 graphics such has tomb raider 2) Like when i look at LL from a distance all I see are gray blurry blocks.

I have all of my settings on medium to high, so I don't believe this is the issue. : /

I'm positive now it must be corrupted files from the game itself. I'm planning on a full uninstall and clean reinstall to see if it affects anything. I would highly suggest everyone keep an eye on these effects. I've spoken to several people now saying they didn't notice blocks before, but now they're seeing them. They're very difficult to catch since effects happen quickly, but I'm sure everyone is having this problem and SE needs to know about it.

The spells look like that there just ugly, I guess they spent to much time designing female characters cleavages rather than spell effects. They also didn't do much work on the male models, its a bunch of pretty females and ugly dudes its like a convention, except those female conventions for female stuff why would hot chicks be there.

I've never seen it though I haven't leved in a party yet.
Also the effects are pretty good in this game. What are you comparing them against to say other wise? Most magic is actually wisp effects. Like what we have now.

Just the spell effect mainly cure and sacrifice, there blocky otherwise everything is pretty mainly elf girls, look like super models, though I would have to cover there hair I don't like that part of them.

Yeah, I figured that too but they don't delete them, so they're not doing a great job in hiding it. Oh well.

Anyhow, to the graphics look bad and dude models... I appreciate your input but this really isn't the thread for that. There's no need to come here and complain about something that's not to your liking. This thread is a legitimate graphical issue as well as very concerning actions against SE's GM staff.

So please make posts that can contribute to this problem being fixed. ^^;

@OP

The same thing happens to me in other games including FFXI when my graphics card begins to overheat. Have you tried running the game in full screen mode, turning down the graphics settings, or increasing your GPUs fan speed?

In my forum post I state that this is not a heating issue. These graphical problems occur with my card clocking at high and low temps. I've never seen anything like this anomaly in any other game I've played.

I have also tried running this game with lowest settings, highest settings, fullscreen and windowed. Same problem. ^^;

Has to be a software/hardware/OS conflict somewhere then. It looks like the .DDS/.DAT sheet the game is reading from is improperly handling the alpha layers of the background and rendering them improperly. As I said before, this has only happened when my card overheated or a game had been running a long time so my situation might be different. Good luck.

I'm beyond thinking it has anything to do on my end, because I know many other people having this issue. The actual uninstall/reinstall will take longer haha. Its against the TOS to modify files so i cant provide any possible solutions that relate to that, but ofc reinstalling will recreate the files, the downloader wont install all updates they have specific patches you will do. So its quite quick to reinstall.
