lvl 50 crafters are useless

i noticed this after spending a lot of time getting my arm to 50 the whole reason was to craft the Dark steel armor , after i hit 50 i went to get the mats needed to craft the HDS chest piece for my pld and noticed i needed and item called coke.

so
I went the market and wow to my shock it is being sold for 100k per item or from the npc 125 phils i need 9 of them to make just the chest for my pld, here's the problem that's 1125 phils or 900k just for that 1 item and the stats of the gear i want to make are not close to DL gear which in short makes my arm completely useless wtf?

my FT group let me know ahead of time that the bsm is the same way as well as all crafting classes i believe this is complete bs and needs to be addressed, by either 1-raising the stats on the Dark steel gear above the Dark light gear 2- reduce the cost of the coke/other items needed to craft that gear much lower like 10-20 phils per coke or 3 make those items farmable by a gathering class.

I am just curious. Did you level crafting just for the Dark Steel armor?

I'd see a problem if the intent on design was for crafters to craft all the BIS gear or craft for Progression in general. Crafting gear I more likely designed to allow people to bypass gearing 2nd classes through dungeons etc. Say months down the road when the price on philosophy items drop a lot. The price is high because the demand is high and supply is low since everyone is using tombstones on gear. Once people who play just 1 class don't need philosophy price drops and you can gear a 2nd class quickly to catch up to your other specs.

Also the HQ versions are on par or better then DL in some cases and you get capped on mythology each week so for hard core raiders who need Healer and Tanked and/or DPS all geared is another reason to have these exspensive things.

Yea this is pretty bad, SE need to adjust the cost of these crafting items down, by at least 4 times.

Make the items bound to character if needed.

Sadly you are wrong, ilvl 70 items can never have the same stat caps as ilvl 90 and certainly dont have the def and magic def either, which is one of the most important stats for end game because everything hits like a truck.

Hopefully they release ilvl 80 recipes in 2.1, but I think this dev team don't care for crafters and gatherers very much so wouldn't hold my breath.

Fun fact, its possible to craft armor that has better stats than gear that drops from coil

for higher level crafting, DO NOT BUY, stuff to make your items, (it will drain your gil fast)

you gather and make them your self
with other DoL and DoH classes

it very slow, but it will save you gil, if you make the items yourself


or
if you are in a FC see if any one can help youi with the items

or ask a on you friend list if any of them can help
or
ask in you linkshell if any one can help

My favorite solution; don't craft unless you like crafting for what it is. It will never be allowed to truly threaten raid drop/gated and capped token gear at endgame. Why us simple; they control all things rng and cap counted very closely.

They will never allow crafters to potentially allow endgamers to bypass too much, if any, content. That's effing with the time they force out of you, which is effing with their money.

Kindly look at every gear treadmill mmo out there. This isn't uncharted terrain.

If this is true, then I know that my subscription with FFXIV won't be lasting all that long. Maybe I'll give Salem a try...

We're talking about endgame 2 star crafts that require tombstones from dungeons. You can't gather those, and certainly most people won't be looking to give them away as they sell for something like 60-100k a piece on the market.

Apparently some accessories actually have more appropriate stats than the ilevel 90 accessories, depending on class.

General rule of thumb I go with on iLevel 70 gear. If you or a friend can guarantee HQ (for body piece only or in a tank's case both body and leg considering the mats for each are cheaper) then go for crafted iLevel 70. If not go for dark light.

Using this I now have an HQ melded Gryffonskin tunic for my bard. Looks so much better then dark light body and had slightly better stats

Also, don't level a battle class either---there are a lot of those too.
