When can we expect add-ons?

Dear development team,

It's been mentioned prior to release that this game would support add-ons. I would like to know if it's still in the works —and if not, strongly advocate in favour of it— and if there is an estimation of when we could expect that feature. Knowing in advance which language is considered would also be great —I assume LUA or something close?

Also, there has been mention of an API for the Lodestone data, does it still fit within the development plan? Would it be a classic JSON/REST API?

Any other information regarding add-ons or the API would be much appreciated.

To all players, if you too wish to use add-ons and an API for this game —to simplify item management; or tweak your interface depending on which role you're playing; or add some cool and crazy features to your social experience and knowledge of the game; generally improve your quality of life…— then by all means, do word it in this thread!

During beta there was a thread where SE planned out everything they wanted to do. I remember one of the things was that they were adding addons about 8 months after launch (which is WAAAAY too long imo)

I can't seem to find that page now though; but it was there the beta forums.

Oh, thank you for that info. Which would mean somewhere around 2.2, or a bit after PS4 launch…

They already have addons.

They mine and chop trees for you.

And apparently there's an addon that kills monsters for you.

Oh and one that spams advertisements in /shout about websites that sell gil.

It really doesn't.

The default UI is nice enough, much better than most default UIs, but when you're used to ultra-customization of everything from Unit Frames to Fonts, any UI falls short.

I want transparency, I want fade out, I want font colors/sizes, I want much broader range of sizing "widgets".

There's plenty that addons will add...on.

Nothing, just people being lazy.

Things I'd like to see, off the top of my sleep-deprived head:
Something to auto-summon a minion(specific or random) when you log in or res.
Recipe back-links to show the entries for intermediary synth mats.
And indicator in item tool-tips showing how many synths that item is used for.
Item tool-tips only appearing when the icon is hovered over, not the entire entry line in menus.
Automatic mainhand change when attempting to repair an item not repairable by your current class.
Crafting log tracker that alerts you in some way when an item you pick up is a material needed to complete an entry you haven't filled yet. Possibly just a special marker placed over the item icon.

Please tell me you aren't serious. How about, I don't know just off the top of my head, showing Party Debuffs???? In reality I could go on and on about improvements. Not to mention

Debuffs show on the party list. Buffs are surrounded by a blue arrow pointing up, debuffs are a red arrow pointing down, and they show before the buffs do, so even if you have 10 buffs on, it will still be the first on the list.

Another addon I would kill people for though: An altoholic-type addon that shows my stuff no matter if its on a retainer or an alt or Company Chest, etc.

Looking for those 19 pots of honey you had? No problem! Search no more!

Oh god I want it.

the buff display makes me want to punch myself in the balls. those icons are tiny, indistinguishable many times at a quick glance.

also, say i want the debuffs i am suffering to display in an unrelated location to my buffs (say debuffs by where my hp bar is and buffs over by where i put a skill CD display. makes sense to me).

Iirc DBM also had a skill countdown.

/shrug. I don't know how it would work on this game with the godawful lag though. Should be fun to see! People relying on DBM to tell them to move 5 seconds after the skill goes off, or 3 seconds before. Dahaha.

I believe they said the addon API was coming out around the same time as PS4 version.
