Thought duty wait times had been sorted?
I think that it very much depends upon what class you are in the queue as and also what you are in the queue for
Exactly, a storyline feature that works great only for certain classes. even now I am hearing comments that people are not making new characters, so low level areas are becoming a waste land
The wait times ARE a bit ridiculous :( its almost always above 40 minutes for me on Diabolos.
It's not that nobody isn't making new characters, they are just focusing more on their main class as of now until they start a new class.
DF up as a Tank or a healer you get in about 15-20 DPS take alot longer sadly.
As a Tank my DF pops instantly. Never have an issue with it. Its all about supply and demand, as the others have said. Tanks are in short supply compared to the amount of DPS classes. Healers are also hardly available. While I don't agree with it, a tank can pick and choose his DF groups. If he doesn't like his group, he can find another fairly easy. A 15 minute penalty is not very long for us, considering the DPS wait times.
What people should be asking is for SE to try to make tanks more desirable. While I love my class, not everyone shares my love.
The longest i have had to wait so far is 5 mins as a tank. DPS always have long wait times, its almost better to try and make your own group, or even join a FC and do runs with them.
So basically to get the best from this game I have to play it someone else's way and not my own. I have always liked these types of game and in the many years I have played, I have always been able to play the game my way.
In almost all I have played dungeons where never a major part of the storyline until we'll into the game. When dungeons had to be done wait times for ALL classes where never a major issue, yes you had to wait but never the sort of times you have to wait here.
Really? In every major MMO I have ever played, the wait times for DPS were always the worst when it came to waiting for dungeons.
Nobody is saying you can't play the game the way you want. But you can't complain about the speed of your progression because you don't want to use the alternative. Part of being a DPS class means you have to accept that you have longer queues. Just like as a tank I have to accept that I will always be the first to be blamed if a party wipes. Regardless if someone else screwed up.
SE gives you the tools to level at your own pace. Plenty of people out there who play the same class as you do who can get from 1-50 in nothing flat. I have been playing since Beta 4 and am just now near 50. I level the way I want to.
Remember you can do many other things while waiting. You don't need to stay in the same area or even as the same class. Go do some FATEs, complete other quests, or work on a craft while you wait for the Duty Finder. I agree though that it is an annoyance, especially since I would expect the wait times to only get longer as more of the population completes the lower level duties with currently no real motivation to revisit them.
I'm not quite sure what MMO games you have been playing, but in the ones I have become familiar with over the years.. tank and healer roles have always been in large demand. When DPS roles are in abundance and your tanks & healers are fewer and far between, a simple logical deduction dictates that DPS have the longer wait times in queue.
And no one is forcing you to play a certain way, unless a Square employee holding a gun to your head was one of the lesser known "bonuses" of the Collector's Edition.
45 Minutes is short compared to the AK Queue times for max level DPS. An hour and a half to 2 hours are not uncommon Monday through Wednesday nights. Make some friends, join a linkshell, join a guild, etc. and find yourself a tank and/or healer to queue with.
I think you missed his point or maybe I am reading it different. He was saying in all other MMO's dungeons aren't a must do in order to advance story or move ahead in story of quest. Could be wrong though.
Wait times can suck, but as you and everyone else has said dps are going to be longest so we just need to expect it.
Its an mmorpg, join an fc then get a grp together or ask players in your fc to help, df imo should be the last resort especially as a dps, years ago in early days of mmorpgs there wasnt such thing as df or instance ques, instead people had to communicate and actually put some effort into making a group and imo was much better.
