Crafting, Gathering, Leveling other jobs.
Finding nothing to do ingame while waiting for a queue is a failure on your part.
In-game :
- Fishing, gathering stuffs, shards etc
- Level up crafting
- Flirt with ladies
- /poke every lalafell you see
Outside-game :
- Watch anime
- Cook something
- Play chess
- Nap
I imagine that waiting on queues will be a bigger problem at 50 since I won't have quests to do while I wait.
Besides that I craft, gather or kill stuff to get materials for crafting.
While it is true that you can't force people to craft and gather, it is also true that the OP's stance is basically "There's nothing to do in the game while I wait on Duty Finder because I choose to ignore everything that can be done in the game while I wait."
It's nice to be able to make money via crafting/gathering/mob farming, while in queue. ;)
It's all on how productive you wanna be.
I stare very awkwardly at other adventurers, for long periods of time. Sometimes I'll read my copy of Lalafells and Cooking: Your Guide to Your Very Own Walking Talking Meat Rack! If all else fails, I'll roleplay a cynical mage that breaks the fourth wall and hates sappy Twilight rps taking place in the Druthers on Balmung.
Noone's forcing anyone to do anything. I'm simply stating that there is plenty to do while waiting for a queue. Hell, be social, talk with people in your LS/FC or even anyone wandering around the zone, maybe they want to queue up too, you might end up getting into an instance faster.
I get that not everyone enjoys running around whacking trees, punching rocks and trolling fish, but I also mentioned leveling a new job which can easily be done by picking up any stray quests, hunting log entries, or even catching a few fates.
Exactly.
Really glad i'm not playing my legacy character on Balmung now lol.
Recently, crafting. More often than not though, I like to watch the marketboard for market inefficiencies~ As much as I enjoy combat content, to be truthful, nothing quite fills me with delight like finding something that I can turn a quick profit on.
I sit there and cry because the DF doesn't want to find me anyone to play with.
Lately i've been working on my Miner levels, trying to get it to 50. I am likely to work on botany next. Mostly running leves, really.
What I do while waiting on the DF? Die of old age, that's what.
In all seriousness though, I enjoy this game, so there's no shortage of stuff to do. Hunting logs, FATEs, leves, crafting, exploring, helping friends on hunting logs or leves, etc. TBH none of that is more boring to me than 90% of every dungeon instance I've already run, which involves wandering around and fighting trash mobs after waiting ~60 minutes to get in.
Craft, gather, work on an alt, run whatever in game errands I need to(market wards, quest turn ins, etc.), quest, leve, explore, chat, you know? playing the game.
I don't think I've ever queued up and just sat there waiting for it to pop.
Either mining to supply my goldsmith, or crafting with my goldsmith. But then again, I hardly ever wait in queues.
Ahh, the joys of having a brother and 6 rl friends who were just as stoked to get this game as you, and all got to join the same server on launch!!
+win for me :D
I've been leveling other jobs while I wait... Usually only have a 5-10min wait so I never need to do something long term...
Grinding, Fates, take screenshots doing silly emotes to post on Facebook.
I'm writing a book, I work on that until I hear the game chime that DF has a group for me.
Chat or watch tv.
if i´m in Df ques i am using only one hand...
while i am eating chips with my second
Armorsmithing: Crafting can get pretty intense trying to max out quality xD
If I get tired of waiting I just switch to tanking, there's a reason why I keep Dragoon and Warrior at the same level.
lvling other classes, running in circles, staring at the screen, chatting in FC..
one thing i bet no one does: lvling there chocobo.
I'm 100% sure no one does that while waiting in the DF. And if you do, you have just hacked the game. :)Quote:

Chatting in FC or gathering leves though I'm always terrified the DF pops while in the middle of a leve :P
