Probably because we inherited the PvE gear from 1.0 whereas the PvP gear are all new designs? I'd imagine they wanted to do something special and unique but had to go out into left field as the game had already snagged some of the simpler designs as quest rewards and craftable recipes.
This is true.
Why is that a problem? It's not like it's going to be handed to you on a silver platter. I can't think of anything more balls-to-the-wall hard/challenging than going up against skilled players.
Also, you're speaking about concept art against what we currently have in-game at this very moment. There is nothing to stop them from creating really awesome-looking gear for PvE players.
I'm much more interested though in why this is such a problem for you. In fact, I recall back on Aetheryte Radio where host Fusion X complained about the high level class gear being limited to just classes as opposed to jobs. I don't understand why people take such offense to this. They're incentives for people to actually use or do certain types of content in-game, and I'm willing to bet that if you tried it, you might actually like it.
But seriously, I'm so excited or PvP. Can't wait to see all you badasses lining up for a thorough spanking from the Midgardsormr Basilisks!
I'm trying to figure out which armor belongs to which class so I can pick my second class to level. I think the white one is for conjurer? stag is for arcanist, lion for gladiator, fox thamaturge the rest i cant figure out
The class is faction based from what I have seen. Limsa is always the best muahaha.
Yoshi understands and embraces one simple fact.
There would be no PVP in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn if players couldn't win sweet looking armor.
MMORPGs are a fashion show, always have been and always will be. Crazy looking armor has always been the biggest, fattest carrot on a stick most players strive for.
It is better because if they made things all the same quality people would complain... oh wait.
I prefer the PVE looks. It's all about personal taste/preference so one can't be labelled better than the other.
Because it's so much more unique than what we have now. I'd kill to wear that PvP gear in PvE, it's great.
I'm not a PVPer but that gear looks pretty rad. The paladin one kinda looks like Ornstein from Dark Souls.
Now I can't go into dungeons with my cool Golden Sword and Shield, with my awesome lion helm, and say to my fellow party goer's:
Call me Lionmaru.
Tis a sad day indeed 8(
I can't wait to see the posts now. Haha. "S.E. Wat iz dis. I did some basic math and to get all the pvp armor its going to take all the classes at 100 victories with at least 3 kill streaks of 10 divided by the square root of pie (apple that is) and them multiplied by 8 + whatever is behind the corner over there and then at 6 hours per day per class I've come to the conclusion that this will take 4 years, 3 months, 1 week and 4 days to get all the armor. Do you think me pvping is that much fun? Seriously. I don't want to have to kill people over and over. Its going to get boring quick. Why make us spam the same content over and over again? And then you have to play all the classes? Why do I need to level all the classes to get the armor for those classes? That's just more time spamming more boring content."
Ah, well I'm looking forward to the pvp aspect more than the armors. Its just a nice little bonus. Can't wait.
The green set makes you look like Guyver. I'm assuming lancer?
Question is when they will release 2.1.
As long as the content is good and the classes are RELATIVELY balanced PVPers are happy to duke it out on the same map forever.
People are still bunny hopping around de_dust2 to this day. Tons of people grinded out rank 14 at 60 in WoW with 3 maps and that took 6 months of PVPing 12 hours a day every day.
PVP is dynamic enough by itself that once in place it requires very little maintenance to keep people happy.
Mhm, I agree 100%. Like I said, I'm looking forward to the pvp aspect more than the armors. Even still, there will always be "that person" who it is about the armors and goodies and doesn't/wont want to put the time required into it. Maybe because they're not good. Maybe because they can only play an hour or 30 mins or maybe because of lag. They will still exist no matter what happens. Haha, I'm just already expecting them.
Looks are entirely subjective. Just because one person likes XYZ gear better, doesn't mean another person will.
Regardless, i'm very excited to play PvP, so I'm glad the rewards look rewarding.:p
If the vanity system is worth it's salt, then you will be able to use the looks of what you like in whatever type of play, that would be great, and is really needed.
Then play PvP? I don't know what else to tell you. Who knows? It might make you a better player in PvE.
If you're worried about "little 12-year-olds ganking you", have a little more faith in the actual game community. This isn't WoW. People would ostensibly be in it for the sport of it. If you get harassed unfairly, then report the person, that simple.
Why can't all "styles" of gameplay have their own unique rewards? I can't imagine anyone being upset about a fisherman not being able to wear a paladin's relic gear for example.
And again, this is concept art for PvP gear, shown off to create hype for the new PvP systems coming soon. There is no reason to assume that there won't be just as if not more awesome PvE gear coming out. Patience, people.
Wow I must be the only one who doesn't like the look of most of them minus the BLM set.
dat Tail on that armor. Want.
