FATES Have to be Fixed

It seems FATES are the main way to level since you get the most exp out of them. The thing is they are so mindless, easy and straight up ZERG's. I did not expect this type of thing from Yoshi P the FATES are just so damn boring that I have to watch TV while doing them so I don't fall asleep from the boredom. I think they should make the FATES harder based on the amount of people doing them and nerf the exp a bit. In one of Yoshi P's letters he said dungeons were going to be the best way to get exp but it sure as hell does not seem that way. The best way to get exp should not be by doing something that you can just mindlessly face roll. I am not trying to bash the game in anyway so I would like to see what everyone else thinks.

What they need to do is Boost up the Dungeon Exp a lot and reduce the FATES exp down. Right now FATES give the most exp, seal, and a bit of gold. Dungeon give less exp, no gold drop and no seals. What happen now is people just zerge and always camp FATES, it not even Weekend and the place is totally pack in Dragon Head and Dhona. Boss died in a minutes, and normal one without boss down in seconds. If they don't do something, it definitely gonna create an issue everyone just zerging fate to max level.

The only FATES I enjoy are big boss like Svara which have multiple step, this is the only one I even get a chance to participate.

Yea I've complained about the zergfest monotony that is FATE grind since day 1. Least enjoyable gaming, ever. I only do dungeons to level, which is totally masochistic of me because they are horrid XP and rewards compared to fates but, w/e. At least I get to play my character.

Well, on the plus side, you change location every 5 levels and get to "experience" new Fates and areas. While when at 50 you get to do same 2-3 instances again and again and again (let's say AK/Castrum for tomes + Coil...the incentive to repeat the primals is minimal). And even Coil is not really something to write home about from my understanding (as in, you get to idk turn 4, and you can't go to previous turns anymore before reset...so god forbid you don't have the exact ratio of healers/tanks/DPS in the FC + number of members that can do it divisible by 8).

Do like I do - stop caring what other people do and just don't run FATEs.

Nerf FATES and lose majority of your player base. SE won't do that.

I'm not much of a fate person myself, but I don't care. They're fine. I love the fact that I can do anything in this game and feel like I'm leveling. I don't just Fate grind because it's fastest. I quest. I LOVE the hunting logs. I've even just chain-grinded mobs for xp. I've seen WAY worse leveling systems in games and I just don't think it's that awful.

Long story short, if you're doing something you don't like to level, the joke is on you.

fates are boring as hell ._. ,waiting until fate pop , move to there with the zerg , try to kill the mobs / boss (enjoy the Aoe spam) , back to the town and wait for another fate to pop /repeat

Mob grinding gives more exp per hour than FATEs.

So Nikki your saying the majority of the player base is only playing to do mindless boring zerg fests? Now that sounds like BS to me.

Wouldn't be a stretch to think that those who like to level multiple classes they prefer FATES. Given how many people are always running FATE groups and how there is always demand for it, i would say yes..majority are running fates. And it might be boring for you but maybe they enjoy it?

But i guess if you don't enjoy to it so we must just nerf it right? what else you don't enjoy it we shall nerf all those things too.

Couldn't you tell by the 12 year old FATES HAVE TO BE FIXED thread? Of course one persons opinions represent all of us.

That Many people run FATE's is due to the fact it is the quickest and easiest way to level not because they enjoy it and whatever is easiest people flock to.

Its great you have mind reading abilities. I run fates when i get bored with my Lancer storyline and shocker..yes i enjoy it too. Infact i have made lots of friends while doing FATES more than i did while doing dungeons. FATE groups are lot chatty too and more relaxing. Nothing is too difficult in this game till you face hard modes. You are confusing time consuming with difficulty. Two different things.

I hate how I have to do fates to get seals. I don't get seals in dungeons, or quests or anything but companyleves and fates and the hunting log.

I'm trying to level crafting and saving my leves for those quests. Since crafting is super dumb to level.

That leaves fates and hunting logs. The second of which runs out. SO fates. Why doesn't dungeons give seals?

I suggest someone creates a poll. A poll that will survey how many people like or dislike the current F.A.T.E system. Although the forums only represent a small percentage of the FFXIV gaming community, I think the poll can be the first step in finding what the general consensus of the forum goers think about the subject. Though pure conjecture on my part, I think we would find a higher amount of people who like the current system than those who do not.

You are completely and utterly insane or delusional if you think the majority of the player base would quit if fates were nerfed, and the fact you think they're so populated with so many groups and so many people LFG because they LIKE fates.

They don't like fates, they don't enjoy them one bit, I don't think ANYONE does, they simply are forced to do them and do them because it's the most efficient way of gaining exp.

Fates do not need to be fixed, SE already caused a massive ravine between players who did speed runs before the AK Nerf and the players who reached level 50 afterwards, we don't need something like that again.

What they need to do is increase the difficulty of FATES when there are X amount of people in the area. Not quite a challenge when a mob dies in 2 seconds. I say take the public quest system from Rift and use that as a sample.

I'd be very happy to have dungeon/guildhest exp brought in line with fate exp, since I'm out of quests. Fates make me sleepy ♥

These are the forums, they just wanna FATE bash, They are not actually interested in the most efficient way to level.

my main issues is tha fates are boring zergfest , and pop randomly :(

checking map every 10s...running there with the zerg , demolish everything on sight and mount/teleport back to town repeat for 40 lvls........how can any1 find that fun ?

the problem is that fate last seconds sometimes....by the time u get there is over , and some fates pop in the other side of the map. :(

I like the idea of FATE's but I'm dissapointed with the implementation... They just generally seem meh to me! Does anything negative happen if FATE's arent completed? Rift did this well, if you didn't help the region the towns got over run and taken over by mobs!

I think it would nice to see which one wins out. I highly doubt it would actually stop all the threads though, cognitive biases aren't so easily eliminated unfortunately.

I do agree with you, I think though the simple things like poll's are a nice way to get a little insight into the players opinions, also a little bit of the why. this could be useful to fixing the mechanics, after all if everyone hates tem for one reason, you could easily find ways to fix it.

I like fate grinding and doing dungeons in between. Guess I'm a oddity.

Your, not really odd, I usually do hunting log with any FATES that pop up on my way, while Qing for a dungeon. I just mix it all together in an adventuring xp grind.

They really should. Make it a reward upon completion of the instance - or some kind of auto-loot after killing a boss that goes out to every member of the party. A bit like instance currencies in other MMOs, except tuned to be in balance with the GC rewards of FATEs (so that both yield roughly the same amount of seals).

Honestly, I can't stand FATEs, though I do them anyway. They take absolutely zero thought to complete and are just like grinding mobs in my mind - which is equally dull.

[edit] Better yet, give GC seal rewards to Guildhests!

I wouldn't mind seeing other options available that are on par with fates. But that would be the only course of action. If you made dungeons the best xp, you would have the exact same threads just replace "mindless zerg" with "30min Q times"

from the poll i started it seems most people would be glad with other options that offer equivalent XP. mostly they would like dungeons. also it seems having a mob spawn with a 3 second immunity to AoE's would get rid of much of the issues melee have with earning credit. that is what I have observed so far from the poll.

The other problem with FATE's is people get to 50 had have no idea how to do their job.

I don't hate fates i do wish there was more to it then zerging it even odin and behm seem zerg friendly

While I agree that dungeon exp needs a boost to be comprable or better than fates... They are not any harder. They are also button smashing zerg fests. You don't get to a dungeon that requires you to do the mechanic's properly until the Slime/Bombs in copper mine or Haukke Manor (last boss and lamps). Satasha, Hatali, etc etc are all face rolls.
