Meteor Survivor Ring - Thank You SE

Hello everyone,
Back in September 2012, SE ran a contest called the "Gear Design Contest." Fans submitted original ring designs, the XIV team chose 10 finalists and then the community voted on a Grand Prize winner and 2 Runner-ups. These 3 winners were given the honor of having their rings made in the actual game. Well, I ended up winning Grand Prize and saw a childhood dream of mine come true - contributing artwork to a Final Fantasy game.

Last night, I finally got my ring in the game (now known as the "Meteor Survivor Ring") and I was so overwhelmed with gratitude - both to SE and to everyone who voted for my design -that I had to express my thanks here on the forums.

Today, I've followed my childhood passion and work as a professional illustrator and animator... but contributing even this tiny bit to an actual Final Fantasy game was something I simply thought was beyond my reach. Square Enix, I hope one day I will be an accomplished enough artist to join your offices in Japan and help create more of the worlds that have shaped so much of mine.

I haven't received mine yet so I don't know for sure, but the standard "exclusive in-game item" they gave for Ver 1 contests was the Scarf of Wondrous Wit. We'll see what it ends up being!

I enjoyed it a lot, it was silly and weird but definitely fun! My favorite part though was at the very end when you finished the quest, when you find out the goofiness of this goldsmith is actually the tragic result of a broken mind from the calamity... but therein comes the uplifting meaning behind my ring.

My concept behind the ring was that it commemorates Eorzea's rebirth and pays homage to its past. By this, I not only mean the in-game characters can rise and overcome the calamity of Dalamud, but the real life XIV staff and community as well. And I'm proud to say I think we have!

Wow congrats on such an amazing feat! So many of us only wish we were able to accomplish what you just did! You are an inspiration to all artists out there who have dreams like this. Absolutely love it. Keep it up! You have many fans whether you realize it or not.

It was a lot of fun contest and also a child hood dream to have something I create become part of the Final Fantasy Universe ^^ I am SammehSAMURAI the runner up winner of the gear design contest, I received the Email from SE and submitted my form, but still have not received my in-game item. :/

do we as the contestants have to fulfill a quest line in order to receive our items? I did the quest and got yours as a reward it looks great! :) though in the Email it did say it would be sent via Moogle mail. so I'm not sure if I did something wrong?

I'll keep trying to get in touch with SE, but it's pretty hard to ask about contest, Just get automated response. ;_; lol

I guess I missed this post back in September. Grats though, I don't use the ring but I am keeping it on a retainer because I like the way it looks and want to use it when the vanity system is introduced. :)

I believe it's part of a quest chain in Camp Bronze Lake if memory serves me right.

Oh my god This is the ring I destroyed and I regret cuz it's so good for spirit binding gears. And I know I will never be able to get it back again. After reading ur story. My heart is breaking again. >.<''

Yes.
The sidequests at bronze lake get unlocked the moment you defeated the storyline Titan.

Have any other runners ups received theirs yet? :)
