The Dark Knight job

So, over the past several weeks I've seen alot of posts about which new jobs people want to see or theories for future job implementation. I want to discuss drk! I've seen alot of people declaring gladiator as the primary class, and I disagree. I believe it will be marauder and here is why:

1. Marauder uses 2hand axes. Drk used both 2 hand axes and great swords in xi in addition to scythes. I feel all of these have more in common with a 2hand than sword and board(even if it is exclusively great swords).

2. Marauders/warriors self heal. Drk used drain in xi so these two go hand in hand. Furthermore I could see Marauder going into a class that would attempt to buff itself by debuffing the enemy.

3. Marauder/war has fewer defensive cds than glad/pld. The Drk shouldn't feel like a tanky bastard and I think gladiator would lead to this (imo).

I think there's no debating thm as the necessary lvl 15 for job advancement.

Anyhow, just my two cents about this topic!

Why would THM be the job you advance to 15, and not ACN? ACN has Energy Drain, Bio, Virus, and a plentiful amount of other debuffing skills. I see DRK being a lvl 30 MRD, lvl 15 ACN, and drawing skills from LNC.

DRK will be implemented with another class, probably one that uses 2 handed swords. This two handed sword class will have split jobs like ACN, so i would expect DRK and something like a chocobo knight.

They missed their chance to be in the game.

Bio already isn't passed to anything. Only arcanist has access so why would drk get it? And I'll concede Acn could be the sub class, but it isn't really the point of the thread.

I think we're a long way off from new classes. Why not make new jobs out of existing classes first?

All I want is RDM, that's it. That's all I want. I don't even know how i'm going to feel if DRK gets in before RDM.

Went from dark knight to paladin. Doesn't seem terribly relevant.

Yoshi already said he cant imagine DK using anything other than Greatswords. It'll likely have its own class.

Yea, I suppose that makes sense with how the current system works, but there's nothing stopping them from making job specific weapons, right?

Well due to the class system, they wouldnt really be able to do that since the job just really supplements the class. Adding a new weapon type means that there would need to be a new class

Haven't seen that. Quite the opposite, he always gave Dark Knight as an example of a possible second class for Gladiator, lol.

Also, ED and Bio aren't cross-class and a DoW can't use Ruin (not that any sensible person would). Instead, you'd get Physick, Virus, and Eye for an Eye, none of which make any sense for a Dark Knight.

That's true, Yoshi was entertaining the idea of DRK being the DPS job for gladiator.
