I understand why this 'feature' is here, it's so people don't realize they're craft is going to fail then disconnect their internet and reconnect it.

But with your data centre and my provider in the shocking states they're in, this is proving to be a real issue for me.
Heaven forbid I lose my ilvl70 mats because Optus and SE servers go haywire.

This pissed me off last Saturday. I got 90k error a couple of times in the morning and I was crafting.
After losing materials several times since I was crafting, I avoided crafting anything expensive and I'm glad I did because those 90k errors didn't stop and I kept losing lots of ores and ingots. -

The crafting protocol is not an issue. There is no alternative to it that wouldn't be abused.
I personally don't know anyone having connection issues, however that is anecdotal, and may not represent the whole (just as OP's example). Either way there is no issue with losing mats on DC. -

The only way (that I can think of) to really fix it, giving you back your materials when you disconnect. Will cause more issues than it will fix with exploiting the mechanic, you're probably going to have to stomach this one.

That way if you have a bad few rolls, you can't DC to restart- you'll be at the same spot. And if the server kicks you, you're not penalized potentially hundreds of thousands of gil.Quote:

This is a serious design flaw, not a connection issue. There's is no reason game cancels crafting mini-game when player gets disconnected. When you log back in, you should be able to continue your craft, since there is no timer like in 1.0. This way you can either successfully finish attempt or fail and lose items.
Players will always disconnect no matter how good the server infrastructure is/will become and players who lose items worth millions of Gil this way will most likely not stay around for long.
If you keep seeing this as a connection issue, then its better crafting mini-game gets removed and we just click recipes and poof, item is in your inventory. I hope though mini-game stays since it makes this game the first MMO in which I actually enjoy doing crafting.
