Can we please have a solution to the crashing markets already? This problem is persistant everyday even after 2 patches claiming to have fixed the problem. Now when I try to enter, I get a message informing me that I am moving to the ward chosen, and have to sit in limbo unable to interact with anything or log out. I am a supporter of the wards, but they simply just need to stay up, please.

Its probably your server problem. Here in Istory wards seens to be working 100%. There's like 3 patches we have no crash, except by Ul'dah MW (no idea why) that was reseted after last patch, all others saved retainers position and all.
What server are you on? Maybe more people from there is also having this problem so they can give it a looking. And i believe you should post a report at ingame bug forum so they will check it out for sure. ^^ -

Its everytime they make a "recovery" post on lodestone that this is happening. They simply just restart the wards after they realize they are crashing players until it happens again. It seems to just go down the list of servers until it loops again. And they have to restart once more.

heh like Lienn said, it is just your server. Ive never seen a Karnak server recovery notice on the lodestone. And the wards seem much more stable than a few months ago now. And since retainers wards location is saved now, it really doesnt matter if the wards reset. They will still be there.

Thats the point though. The busier servers, not just mine, get reset and crash. Anyone who tries to access the crashed wards ends up in limbo state where they have to crash game to exit. The retainer locations are NOT replaced and it is not fixed until SE posts on the official website that its been restarted.
I understand it may not be happening on the less populated servers but I've seen it happen over and over on Selbina, and others like Mysidia and Besaid. -

They did fix it but had a problem with the fix so they disabled it while they work things out. -

Ya i saw your point now...only a few days ago i noticed that they keep only 1 recovery message at news and not all of them. Its very odd it always being in Ul'dah...maybe its malfunction of their market server.
Indeed they need to give MW some love and have this fixed...because if its something caused by MW overloading, then it might expand to all MWs once PS3 version is out. -

It happens in Ul'dah because it's the only market that actually has a fair amount of retainers in it. This isn't hard to figure out here.

I'm not going to lie here, I kinda dig the idea behind the market wards. I really, really do. But the way they're implemented currently combined with a ridiculously slim feature set and serious stability issues is just awful.
In my Ideal Vision Of FF XIV In Four Months Or So (tm), there would be a functional auction house in addition to a market ward that isn't split into a dozen identical instances. Imagine if the markets felt like...you know, *markets* - like in that Indiana Jones movie where he's running through a foreign city and dodging crowds and what-have-you (Raiders? I forget). Lifeless hallways playing elevator music don't really make me want to get my wallet out and make with the gil, y'know?
"But Ryoshi," you ask, "why would we NEED market wards if there was a functioning auction house?" Well, voices in my head, I'm glad you asked! The AH would be great for finding specific things, whereas if the markets were retooled a bit they could be a cool place to wander around and "browse" for items. Heck, if they weren't completely cut off from the cities in some sort of bizarre hallway purgatory, they could even have a few important NPCs or quests there. It would be groovalicious, no? On top of all this you could maybe set your retainer up with a few thousand gil and they'd go shopping around for you and buy semi-random items that they think you might like, if you really want to add some roleplaying flair to the whole ordeal. -

What they could do is add duplicate wards, and kinda like they did with the tailors ward. Lower Battlecraft Ward, Middle Battlecraft Ward, Upper battlecraft ward, etc. or just Battlecraft ward 1, 2, 3, etc.

Crashes are needed because allowing people to always have their retainers up is bad and locks people out of wards. It's important that retainers are removed so that people coming along can get a chance to set up shop in the battle ward. Ward crashes aren't the solution but they're doing a fine job right now.
