Materia meld cap?

Searching function isn't work as I typed this, so forgive me if this has already been asked.

What is this materia stats cap people are talking about?

Each item slot + iLvl has a cap for each stat. For example...

An iLvl55 body piece cannot have more than 23 crit rate.
An iLvl55 body piece cannot have more than 14 DEX.
An iLvl55 head piece cannot have more than 14 crit rate.
An iLvl55 head piece cannot have more than 9 DEX.

...and so on. The cap varies based on item slot and item level, but for all gear that have the same slot + iLvl, their caps will be the same.

If you try to meld +crit onto an iLvl55 body piece with 13 base crit, you can add a total of +10 more with materia. If you try to meld +crit onto an iLvl55 hat with 14 base crit, you can't add any more crit rate to it.

So the secondary stats on DL gear would be the meld caps on ilvl 70 crafted gear too?

I just found it out the hard way. Melded a couple +crafting materia into my weaver's outfit just to have the stats turn red. :(

Any way to get the materia out?

You can remove all the materia by talking to the materia goblin. The materia will be destroyed, and you can't pick which you remove -- it's all or nothing.

Why did you go through with the meld though? It tells you plain as day if a materia is going to be gimped in the meld menu.

Is there a list of those cap's available somewhere?

I've made a list of some I uncovered but am considering crafting the ilvl70 shirt for my bard and would like to know the caps before I consider buying a rank 4 materia.

Stuff I found:

(lvl 50 class specific HQ crafter gear)

Crafting Boots -
Cap's out at +3 CP
Cap's out at +5 Control
Cap's out at +1 Craftmanship

Crafting Legs -
Cap's out at +3 CP
Cap's out at +5 Control
Cap's out at +1 Craftmanship

Crafting Shirt -
Can't Add CP to HQ Shirt
Cap's out at +5 Control
Can go up to atleast 14 Craftsmanship with no penalty possibly higher.

Crafting Hat -
Cap's out at +4 Craftsmanship
Can't Add CP to HQ Hat
Cap's out at +5 Control

Crafting Gloves -
Can't Add CP to HQ Gloves
Cap's out at +5 Control
Cap's out at +4 Craftsmanship

Crafting Belt - (Raptorskin Merchant's)
Cap's out at +3 Craftsmanship
Cap's out at +2 CP
Can put atleast 3 Control on it with no penalty possibly higher.

not really that plain I never saw it when i melded my materia into my shield to get +0 vitality from it >.>

Anyone has stat cap for HQ iLevel 70 for each armor parts ?

You didn't see it, but it was there. Before you did the meld, the meld description asking for your confirmation told you it would be +0 vitality. In red, no less.

Bump, this sort of info would be extremely useful.

Specifically I'm looking for +acc cap on Heavy Darksteel Flanchard

I capped a gryphonskin tunic (2 star bard bp) at 27 Crit.

For 2ndary stats like accuracy, skill speed, etc. I'm just guessing but probably also 27 on breastplate.

Offhand crafting weapon is +11 Control on HQ just hit it on a Militia Spinning Wheel.
