1017 rears its ugly head again

So Im trying to log in to Balmung and I keep getting error 1017. Didnt they get rid of this like two weeks ago?

It's right after maintenance, and they said time and time again, they'll slowly bring people back to not stress the servers much.

WTF how the hell is this error back again? come ON SE seriously what is the problem here why cant you get this issue fixed for once and for all? I can understand a problem like this popping up in 1997 during the beginning of the MMORPG era but now in 2013? get real.....get this fixed all ready THANK YOU.

your servers should be MORE than capable of handling a few hundred or a few thousand players in this day and age.... there shouldnt be any stress on the servers than any other game at this point. I mean seriously EVE hosts what 35000 players per server? if not more

Most likely it's because only 500 people can be queued at once, and since the servers aren't up everyone's bombarding that 500-person queue. Once the servers come up 1017 should disappear quickly....(Note: I just got a queue on Balmung, 79 people....let's hope it doesn't go to error 90000....)

Yup I'm getting it on Leviathan for the first time since two weeks ago but I agree it must be because it's right after maintenance .

ITT: people who don't understand that an error code is not a bug to be fixed, but a symptom of an occurring issue (hint: that issue is login throttling, and working as intended)

So, after the expected deduction in players once the charges came in, SE have reduced the number of active signons.... but too low. GG SE. Still, they got our moneys for signing on for 30 or more days. Mug {you can have this}.

So its 30 minutes since maintenance ended. That means I have to wait whenever the hell they deem it appropriate for me to log in? So I guess the maintenance is unofficially an hour or more longer than they said.

If maintenance didn't happen during PRIME TIME then there wouldn't be a million people shoving themselves into the login server at once.

Yes, you have to wait.

Nothing else you can do other than complain which people have mastered these days. You can't wave a magical wand to turn on the servers. You can't cry over your keyboard in hopes that your tears will somehow transfer over the internet and spill into a dev's coffee cup so that they will realize your anguish and let you play.

Maint will go on as long as they deem it necessary. The log-in restrictions will continue as they see fit. The only possible way you can change this is if you go get a job at SE and help work to speed things up.

Oh! If you get a job let us know, then we can blame you for long queue times and extended maintenance.

Yoshida said that during these maintenance or whatever, that this error will appear so the game won't be overloaded from people spamming to get in until it's settled.
