Security Tokens for Smart Phones

But it seems to me to be a topic beyond the scope of website/forum feedback, since the token ties into game and account logins.

Blizzard was able to put their authenticator on smart phones. It is convenient, and free. Easy to get and use. I can see a lot of accounts becoming more secure that wouldn't have otherwise considered a token.

Square-Enix, Please make a Mobile App for the iPhone and Android phones!

I'm overseas as I write this -- with my phone, but without my security token.

Yes please great idea, I would be less likely to lose my phone than security token and even if I did you should be able to redownload the app and confirm how I am somehow.

This would be nice and even if they decided to put a $.99 pricetag onto it.
Given the widespread use of iOS (iPhone, iPad Touch, iPad) and Android devices (phones, tablets, netbooks), there's no reason this shouldn't be considered. EDIT: Blackberry too, I guess...
They'll get less complaints regarding being hacked, and less people will need to deal with the headache that is SE support.
Of course, this wouldn't fall under the scope of the FFXIV team as it encompasses Members accounts. No loss in dev time, more secure accounts? It's a win/win.

I agree, then I wouldn't have to worry about my token's battery dying or losing it. One of my friends who plays WoW told me about how Blizzard's done it and I think it's a pretty decent idea, it would definitely help more than hurt.

I really hope this gets done, because I have my token tied to my desk so I don't lose it or it doesn't get squashed in my keychain, but when I'm browsing the forums through my smartphone I can never log in because I don't carry it on me!

I actually have the WoW authenticator on my iPhone from back in the day when I played it. I would love to put an FFXIV security token app right next to it. The added security to my account would be nice, too.

Got a Trion newsletter today (played RIFT beta), and RIFT has mobile authenticator now too (might be old news tho i just noticed today). LINK

Great idea!! i'd pay a small fee for this app

As long as it is secure and people cannot get access or crack the code easily and steal accounts I am all for this idea.

i want to get rid of my token already... <_< i would rather have this installed in my iPhone.

The battery life of a token is about the same as a computer bios battery they can last a very long time.

This thread isn't active, but it doesn't seem like the topic is dead. Just spread out.

It would be nice to consolidate them all (including this one) into a single thread.

I had to disable my smart token recently. i bought it when they were offering Mog Sacks in FFXI.. Its YEARS old and one of the numbers started to not show up on a regular basis properly.. I'd love a free iphone version.
