Maintenance Schedule

Who is picking these times? Because someone should seriously be fired from their job. You guys have already screwed us NA players out of countless hours of peak game time and you are still doing it. Learn to schedule this at appropriate times. It's not that hard since you are claiming you are monitoring the servers so closely. I can tell you my server has a que during this time of the day so maybe you guys should do it earlier. or much later.

Aww man you mean you can't play for 2-3 hours one day a week damn dude that's harsh you might ha e to resort to going outside...

PS think of all the non NA people that Played NA games for years.

It's only 2 hours anyway, so why are you even complaining? Do you play 24/7 or something? Just watch a Movies, go outside to eat, or take a break then log back in.

lol at the 7-9 est on a Friday. Granted I'm usually at the bar till 8 or 9 after class on Fridays but still. It's a NA/EU center, should be 2am-4am (PST), which should give 5-7am EST, and something like 11am-1pm EU time. Prime time avoided!

I am one of the "24 hour players" but I can certainly wait two hours. Maintenance shouldn't have to be catered to you or anyone.

First, it's "queue."

Second, bumping this because it should prove valuable to have another forty page thread about the whimsical and capricious nature of Japanese business hours run by a Japanese software company on Canadian data centers. Since i'm not sure we actually resolved everything the last maintenance happened, I think we need to discuss the finer points again.

Are we really going to make a thread complaining about the times with each friggin maintenance!!!

Yes I'm bolding this stuff because it's getting ridiculous. This game is made for a world wide audience. Someone, somewhere WILL get screwed over by those times. Stop acting like spoiled children and do something productive with your time. This is honestly the first time that I'm writing a sort of an angry post.

No monthly fee! : Sure but the cash shop is horrible and you are forced to use it
Massive world to explore : true
Incredible NPC AI : They are actually pretty stupid and lame
Over 56,400 character archetypes : sounds about right
Fully PvP : sure but just like the previous game they forget the disclaimer that once u flag yourself for PvP you can not turn it off
Highest resolution graphics : Really depends on your hardware here but they have taken it to the max

Now i would however love to play the game when they have removed all the bugs.

But.. That is 6:00 pm for them. Nobody at SE is working then in Japan. It doesn't matter what time you would like it to be. They are doing it during their work hours and making a thread complaining about how you can't play for a couple of hours wont change it.

Guess it's time to resurect my 3012 character. Friday prime time, how convenient >.<

Manteinance is at the same time for all worlds...reason for this is that the authentication servers are all in JP, is what allows us to create characters on those servers, so when they go down all worlds go down.
NA is only a data center, no devs, no authentication server or mant team on this side of the ocean.

Actually what SE is doing is what any successful international company would do, screw the less possible ammount of customers.

Mant times are:

8AM to 10AM +/- hours in Japan, Australia, SE Asia. Everyone is either working or at school.
1AM or 2AM to 3AM or 4AM in Europe (Lon, Par, Ber respectively). Thats an off hour, everyone is sleeping
4PM - 6PM in NA (PDT) prime time for most NA

If you think NA has more customers than JP + Aussies + Europe combined, then I want some of what you're smoking

they will have maintenance when they want, not when you want.
ofc they could make the time ok for everyone ONCE the game is older and fixed EVERYTHING thats needs to be done.

You all bitch about Errors but once they intend to fix it YOU start making this stupid Threads over and over again.
Face it, try the IRL Game you might find that better since its never stops unless you are the wrong place at the wrong time(or right place at the right time or some other mix'es)

People are paying for a service and have every right to complain when they are being denied use of said service. On top of that this is becoming a weekly nightmare for those of us who can only play during prime hours during EST. Not every one is some kid in high school or college who has gobs of copious free time. Some people have jobs and families that limit play time to what PRIME time exactly connotates.

Jesus these forums are becoming toxic fast!

Yeah, 2 hours at prime time during the week matters for those of us who have a day job in the western hemisphere, and thus only a few hours of time we might be able to play in the first place, and that time frame is the same time frame as the maintenance.

2 hours prime time is my whole evening of play time. :/

Sorry for all the nerds jumping your case OP. To be fair, SE, now that they're operating a different region datacenter, should probably schedule these maintenances accordingly.

There will never be a good time to have maintenance so you just have to deal with the times they give you. Most countries have been dealing with this for years, but you didn't realise because we didn't go around screaming about it, we just accepted it and moved on.

First off, I wish idiots would stop using the term White Knight incorrectly.

Second, the issue is not people defending the game in this case. It's the fact that a few people who can only play the game 2 hours once a week complain when a company is working to fix issues affecting MILLIONS of people. GET. THE. F@#%. OVER. YOURSELVES.

Not really a water-tight argument.

If they started maintenance 3 hours earlier (I know, 5am for Japan isn't all that practical to have people up and working, but bear with me for the sake of my point), it would miss NA primetime (4-6pm EST instead of 7-9, so most of the continent would still be at work/school during maintenance), Japan + Australia + SE Asia would still be unaffected (5-7am, most people probably aren't online), and maintenance for Europe would be at 10PM/11PM/midnight/1AM as per the times you listed. Some parts of Europe would get hit, but the other places you listed would remain unaffected.

If they started maintenance 7 hours later, basically none of your listed timezones would be affected. It would start at 3PM in Japan, Australia, SE Asia. 8/9/10/11AM in Europe. 11PM NA (PDT).

I'm not arguing that they change the maintenance time, I'm just trying to show that it's not 'NA' vs 'the rest of the world'. Having one uniform maintenance time world-wide is always going to affect one small portion of the playerbase when you compare it to every other timezone. If maintenance were moved to impact Europe, NA+JP+Aussies would be fine. If maintenance was moved to impact JP+Aussies, NA and Europe would be fine. Your whole argument is based off a false premise.

Data center =/= authentication server.

The authentication server is in Japan, devs & manteinance team are all in Japan. End of story.
For them to do different manteinance times, they would need to set up authentication servers on each region and have staff working there, this would allow them to schedule different mant times (but on the other hand, woudn't allow you to make chars on JP or European servers since the authentication server would be different, you wound't see those worlds available).

The cost of setting and building such servers is pretty high, that's why no company does it.
Does Blizzard do different mant times to adjust to Europe/Australia time? Bioware? NCsoft? Nexxon?....no, none of them does because their authentication servers are all in NA and because their main customer base is in the NA....ergo their mant is always an off hour for NA but likely a peak hour for the other regions.
Well SE authentication servers are in Japan, and the customer base of Japan + rest of Asia + Australia + Europe surely outweights the customers in NA, so you plan for a mant time that screws the less ammount of customers.
Sorry NA, but we are a minority this time....just the same Europe & the rest of thw world had to suffer in WoW, SWtor, Aion, Lineage, etc. etc.

For love of all that is MMO please stop posting this kind of stuff. It makes us all look like self-centered jerks. Sorry that you will have to a) make your schedule fit the game or b) lose 2 hours of game time and deal with it like a rational adult. Those are your options besides quitting.

The only people this really affects are the people in NA east coast. This us really the best option the could go for.
