Amateur MMO design for little things

Having never played an older FF MMO (11 or 14v1), is the design of this game supposed to be kind of juvenile for the industry?

All classes have approximately 1 and only 1 role, with very little, if any, specialization. Can BLM focus in 1 element or spell type? Doesn't look like it.
Can ARC focus in bleeds over burst? Doesn't look like it.
Can PAL do anything other than tank bosses better than WAR? Doesn't look like it.
Can WAR be dps or anything else? Doesn't look like it.

FATEs are horribly implemented. Every zone is just FATE groups so far, they even give out company seals. I can see the value in grinding FATEs if the player is on their 3rd or 4th class, but straight up grinding the out on our mains?

Crafting...

The game is great, kind of like an early WoW only a bit slower, and I am admittedly a fan of the FF series, but the game looks and feels like it was designed by a team of great game designers who have never played an MMO before.

Give everyone a favor. Just keep it to yourself.

Yyyyeah I never was a fan of classes taking on multiple roles.
One thing that kept me away from WoW.

Game just started man , it will be more progression in Future .

That's a choice the player makes. The game itself doesn't force you to run FATEs unless you're one of those players who want to rush to endgame and skip content.

1) The game (Level 1 - 50) was designed to allow players new to MMOs to get into the game and the system.
2) Yoshida is a veteran of hardcore MMOs.
3) Your opinion is yours and most of us here will disagree with it. The GCD is there for a multiple of reasons, which include the 'Classic' FF feel of the ATB, as well as to balance the game for those whom use controllers instead of KB/MS.
4) If you want to take on a non-traditional role for your class/job, form a proper sized party with your FC and register. This bipasses 'Class Role Placing' via the Duty Finder.

I'd love to see a group of 4 CNJ/WHM do Sashtasha.

FFXIV is a game that's made to be fun. If you're not having fun (unlike the rest of us) then what the heck are you doing here?

I just HATE this elitist WoW'ish mindset. For me it's disturbing and simply makes me feel sick. It's a video game, a thing that is supposed to be simply fun and not a effin science project.

I so hope this game will go as far from the “WoW” template as possible. Jeez, people died from starvation while being addicted to that piece of crap.
I hope they will make the gameplay varied, unlike the other MMOs. I can't wait for the enhanced housing, card games, chocobo racing and other interesting things they could implement.

Players want to participate, especially casual players who feel like an MMO is going to ignore them in favor of 8hr/day guilds. Grinding is not the issue, the issue is how we can participate and in what way.

2 classes to tank, 2 classes to heal, rest to dps, all with the same specs and gear set, so the only way we progress is by following a very defined path. Really?

What is the point of crafting again? Are crafters going to be integral to the end game economy and general eco system of the players?

Is there a way to stand out in this game, or are we all supposed to slowly do our roles?

That's the cool thing about all the different MMOs on the market right now. This one is obviously not the right one for you since you have issues with the gameplay, but you can keep searching until you find the right combination of complexity and fun for your play style. Good luck on your search.

I stopped reading at this point, because i just had to laugh.

As someone that mained Mrd/War during beta, and mained it until i was no longer to able to get into hyperion without a massive wait, I will tell you, Pld is NOT better then War. They both fill different tanking roles, And neither is superior to the other. Pld is your standard tank, with decent HP(lower then War) high defense, and lots of damage mitigation. War is a High HP, DPS based tank with solid defense, and sustain properties. They both tank bosses just as well as they other, the only difference in them, being who can tank groups of enemies better, in which the War wins out as it's easier to grab and hold that aggro.

The only reason people think PLD is better than WAR is because everyone is pushing (Coil) and WARs are very gear dependent making it hard to push content a whole tier above the gear that is easily available.

I love this game but...

Its the closest thing to a WoW clone since WoW itself. In fact, if you were there in classic and BC era WoW, this game is closer to WoW than WoW now is... except that it has WoW's later LFD-Tool added. Its like playing classic WoW, Alliance side only, with the Cata-era LFD tool added. And Darnassas, er... Gridania, isn't a dead town - this is probably the biggest difference between the two games. :P
