No AOE ability or spells from the job... (besides its limit)

No way to enhance the strength of the egi using equipment?

DPS is very very limited... as the game progresses post-50, ilvl becomes more demanding... so can a group that ONLY has DPS from SMN get through Garuda-Hard Mode courtesy of the auto-grouping DutyFinder? Ruin II's recast is fast, but damage is sorely limited even with FULL Darklight gear, in order to down those feathers individually, vs a DPS that can AOE the lot of them before they explode...

In its current incarnation, SMN is ARR is really Red Mage from FFXI with a pet... oh, where is the ability to summon elementals? They're all over in the game and should be made part of our arsenal "elemental bloodpact" <Can I Have It?>

Have you ever even used bane...?

Granted, Bane's AoE needs to be increased to 10 yards (yalms?), but i guarantee you 4 Summoners dots ticking, will wreck those plumes...and also, and here is the kicker...without needing any additional attention.

Raging strikes, then contagion + bane and you win the phase. You just need preparation.

You have the highest single target DPS In the game, stop complaining about damage!

I love this idea... I can see this working using a FC prepped group but definitely not via the Duty Finder... it's just a shame that this method would of utilization would have to be the method of choice for SMN because of the "type" of job it is... but great idea none-the-less.

"single" target doesn't help when you need to down a slew of Garuda's feathers... Fester helps, but its cool down and limited usage is painful.

Would like to point out that your Egi does get stronger with your gear. Unless you meant you can't equip gear to your Egi, or something.

Also, you don't need any more AoE above Bane and Shadow Flare. Sure, SMNs aren't going to out AoE a BLM, but their AoE is respectable enough. You are also complaining about the worst lv50 fight for Summoners, which is still more than manageable on the job.

Miasma II is also an AoE attack that uses your character as a center point. Nice way to put instant dots.

Garuda is easy for a summoner. If you NEED more damage, and cannot be mindful to bane, use Ifrit. He is AoE. Make sure you use your pet's AoE abilities as well. I bet you aren't controlling your pet enough. Also - you have 3 other DPS.... they should be helping too.

You could try learning to play the job before complaining. I use Tri-disaster when the feathers pop (binds them right under Garuda) and Bane right after (spreading all the dots on them). The rest of the DPS can just aoe them in the same spot, no need to chase. No dmg to the pillars. People think SMN is so bad because people like you come on here to complain when you have no idea how to use the job effectively. Please stop.

The Bane and Shadow Flare combo is pretty nice, we don't need any other AoE right now.

Also, sincerily, what @Deelo said is true.

I'm sorry to say that you're just completely off basis here man. You do not need ANY outside help to DESTROY Garuda's feathers. Tridisaster + Bane with proper DoT preparation beforehand (IE making sure you refreshed anything ticking off as soon as you get out from the pillar) is all you need... If you want it spelled out... You start casting Tridisaster when you see her start to fly upwards. By the time the spell goes off the feathers will have popped. Bane. Profit. You don't even need to switch off to deal with the other feathers, you've done your job.

Don't even need that much prep on tri-disaster just swiftcast it, cool down will be up before the next set of feathers.

Summoner occassionally needs a bit of thinking and knowledge of the fight in order to be effective.
I do think Bane needs a range increase and tri-disaster needs something additional like a slow effect if the bind is broken but apart from that (and the pet issues) I have little to no complaints.

I will definitely give this tactic a shot... I've never thought of using "tri-disaster" like this, followed by Bane to bind the feathers... actually in all of the garuda fights I've been in, and I've been in many-like so many others-no one has used this tactic. I appreciate your feedback--thanks alot ^.^
