Shadows Uncast (Maelstrom) Bugged/Broken

Once I hit level 50, I decided to go ahead and finish ranking up in my Grand Company. I accepted the quest, Shadows Uncast, and headed to the Darkhold. I spoke with Ophelie and the instance wad added to my duty finder. I then used the duty finder to enter and complete the dungeon.

Afterward, I returned to Maelstrom Command and turned in the quest. "Quest Complete" appeared on the screen, the victory fanfare played, and "Shadows Uncast objective complete" appeared in the chatlog.

I then tried to apply for promotion but the NPC told me to talk to the commander again...and, wouldnt you know it, the commander gave me the Shadows Uncast quest a second time. So, I repeated the same steps as above and, of course, got the same result. Now I have the quest a THIRD time.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong here?

make sure your inventory has at least 1 open space then try it, worked for me. Had same problem at full inventory.

There is plenty of space in my inventory :( but thanks for replying!

Wait... So you found a way to easily farm seals and you complain? XD

Joking... But seriously, do you also get the seals after each completion? XO

I wish lol but no. The quest says complete but doesn't actually complete. I do not receive seals and the quest doesnt flag as complete in my journal. It simply resets and the NPC gives the quest again as though I never did it.

if the Grand Company quest are similar with the other (i'm with Twin Adder), after complete that quest, another quest is available but only after completing the 2nd tier of the GC hunting list

Hopefully that is the case for you & solve your problem :D

Throw something away from your full inventory :D

you need to complete the second ( or third ) rank of the hunt log as part of the required objectives.

just another guesswork action, this game is full of them

I have the same problem.
I alrdy finished the second part of the hunting log. (u cant start the third)
Finished the dungeon and the quest.
...nothin.

My questlog says its all fine and im rdy for more ranks.
Npc has no messages.
Other npc says i cant be ranked up.
Wtf now?

I had an issue with this as well. I would turn in my quest, and it would say completed across the screen, but it wouldnt REALLY complete. I could spam turn it in over and over. It wouldnt give me the seals or anything like that though. Then just one time when i turned it in, it just worked. Prob attempted to turn it in 50 times. Multiple log ins and outs as well.

EDIT: Also! i completed the Rank 3 Mael hutning log. Got the Bump on a log achievement, says my reward was the Banner Mammet #003L i believe. I never received it. Had spots open in my inventory for it at the time. Just never got it. Unless im missing the person you may have to talk to, to get it. (checked all the maelstrom npcs, and no dice)

So...what now?
Will i ever get my new bow and that awesome Officers uniform?

Hm...I turned this quest in last night. No problem at all. Maybe you haven't completed all the hunting logs?

I just kept logging in and out trying and trying until it REALLY turned in. Like i said before it was prob 50+ attempts to turn in, before it took.

You have to speak with the guy in Gridania and 'tell him a story' to get your achievement reward.

Ahhhhhh nice. I had been looking everywhere for it. Is it that Jon guy i heard someone mention in Old grid?

This is still a problem...

Completed level 2 of my immortal flames hunting log..
Received the quest to enter Darkhold...
Completed Darkhold...came back to Commander Swift who congratulated me/quest completed was indicated...
Go to speak about getting a promotion and I am told that I have still not completed a trial (Darkhold) and to speak with Swift...
Swift has no quest indicators now, appears as a normal NPC and speaks to me only in small talk.
All I care about is advancing my level within the grand company...I could care less about any rewards from Darkhold or additional seals.
I am L 49...have completed UP to escape from CC on the main story line quest and have plenty of inventory space.
Do I have to complete the main story line to L50...I wouldn't think so since there are plenty who seem to advance to the tier 3 hunting log and have the ability to apply for a promotion prior to hitting 50. Help please :)

i am having the same issue here.

1. got the trial for Darkhold, Shadows Uncast
2. completed Darkhold
3. turned in Shadows Uncast
4. quest journal shows Shadows Uncast as completed
5. finished tier 2 hunting log for Maelstrom

the Commander only has small talk to offer me and the promotions officer says i have still not completed the trial.


hope someone can help out here, its a bit confuddling and frustrating.
