The purpose of this forum is for players to discuss various topics on FINAL FANTASY XIV with other players.
Well you see, the earthquakes were in Japan. SE is in Japan. SE shut down the servers to save power because the earthquake took out some power plants. Many Japanese people were affected by this, as were we.
The earthquakes affected service and directly affected many people who play.
In other words it didn't happen in Japan so nobody should care about anything other than Japan and their events.
Threads were created way before services were affected. Meh doesn't matter though the world will always be bias and doubt that change today on these forums.
There wasn't a flicker of the bulb when reading my post? Did you not post the forum guidelines? Threads were created way before it affected the game... Still nothing? Please continue being bias the world will join you. The fact is they both should have been deleted but both weren't.
Llike Nabiri wrote, the earthquake involved the delay on the FFXIV service.
Bin Laden, unless he was planning on taking over Eorzea, didn't involve in any way the game.
Must have overlooked it. It's good reasoning and it makes sense. However, it still is pretty biased though considering he was the tragedy causing explosions around the world. Doesn't matter anymore what's done is done. It just amazed me how people didn't complain about one but instantly complained about another.
You're right Aku. It seems that they couldn't manage the forums during the disaster and completely forgot to clean up the threads.
Anyway, I don't find this an important or slightly releavant argument, as if I wanted to inform myself about this I would better google it up =)
earthquake+bin laden = LOLWHUT ???!
I was thinking......
Waldo.
Earthquake threads were sort of relevant because
A) SE is in Japan, and therefore it could
B) directly affect Final Fantasy XIV (like it did)
and finally
C) Square Enix themselfs started helping with donations
Osama Bin Laden threads are NOT relevant because
A) They're in no way, shape or form related to FFXIV, no matter how hard you try
therefore
B) They're completely unrelated "General News". There are far more appropriated places to discuss these things other than here.
The mods need to enforce their rules regardless. One News article is allowed while another is censored. Both important but the mods have some kind of jaded opinion of one and not the other? From an old GM to the mods. You need to enforce your companies policies globally regardless of your personal opinions on off topic discussions on these forums.
But, like I said, Earthquake related news WERE FFXIV relevant.
Let me give you a few examples:
MASSIVE POWER OUTAGES IN JAPAN - Relevant: It could affect FFXIV
NEW JAPANESE PRESIDENT - Irrelevant: It will not affect FFXIV
NEW JAPANESE PRESIDENT IS AGAINST ONLINE GAMES: Relevant: It could affect FFXIV
OSAMA BIN LADEN DIES - Irrelevant: It will not affect FFXIV
TERRORIST THREATENS BLOWING UP MMO SERVERS - Relevant: It could affect FFXIV
NEW U.S. LAW WANTS TO BANSH MMOs FROM AMERICA - Relevant : It could affect American FFXIV players
Do you get it now?
I don't mean for this to sound rude in any way...
But isn't this kinda a pointless argument? In the end it doesn't matter what we think should and shouldn't be allowed. It is THEIR forum and they can do as they like, delete what they like and allow what they like. If people don't like it then go start your own forum or go to a forum that allows it, it's not like I'm not seeing threads about that dude on every forum I go to.
Other than that continue to bang your head into a wall if it feels good.
It still had no effect on the service until the power company needed them to shut down. Thus had no effect on the game. I already suggested an Off Topic forum to make situations like this easier on the forum mods in the future. It's a lot easier to move a thread and direct people that want to talk about a subject to an off topic forum than it is to piss them off and deal with the aftermath. Simple and easy.
Greetings DeadRiser.
Like others have said before, there is a thread specifically made with forum post guidelines, which is located at the very top of the General Discussion. This thread will be closed since it is unnecessary and have become off-topic. Thanks for posting.
