If R30 dungeons...

Please add a rank cap of 30. By adding a cap, higher ranked players will have even more to do and wouldn't have to rely on R50 content as a form of challenge.

Make it so this R30 cap prevents players from using any ability above R30 for even further difficulty.

If players were allowed to steam-roll through R30 dungeons on their 50s, it wouldn't be much fun because the challenge wouldn't be there.

Thoughts/opinions welcomed.

P.S, I would use a dev tag but I've no clue which one to use.

I agree, adds more content for high ranked individuals and creates a challenge. If they're not capped I can guarantee only a few people will bother going through rank 3o dungeons as a rank 3o. They'll just get their rank 5o class or buddy to do it for them. The only other option is making it to where it's shut out to rank 3o and up which just cuts out a lot of possibilities.

Instead of locking rank 50 players out (there are those with all battle classes at rank 50) they could make the dungeons be very rewarding SP-wise too, giving more reason not to just steamroll the dungeon for loot as a rank 50.

I would love to see this happen. Like lyndis said, you wont be able to run people through it. Kinda like the promys (before they uncapped everything)

If they cap it at thirty that means a rank 3o+ could get sp there. So if they go with the idea of making them with good sp rewards capping it at thirty is still a great idea.

If there's a cap, I hope it's R35...would make a whole lot of sense, because R35 is when all our new midlevel NM gear fully kicks on. I hope they cap it. Twice the content, instead of content the R50's will just plow through retrospectively getting caught up in terms of what the raids offer.

I guess if they cap it at R30, the R35 gear is still okay. I wore almost everything but the boar's axe on marauder by R30 I think anyway.

I disagree, the 'mini NMs' are designed for rank 30s and they are still fun for r50s. All you would do by putting such a limit in place is make it so that players with all batle classes above 30 not have acess to the dungeon. That's no fun at all for those players and would do more harm than good in the end.

Agreed, they need to put caps on these dungeons like FFXI's COP missions. This game needs a challenge badly :P.

Oh and Molly, placing a cap wouldn't take away access from the R50 players it would just scale the rank down.

What he said, everyone above 30 becomes rank 30 when they enter. Oddly enough, I hated this in FFXI but I actually find myself in favor of it in FFXIV at this current time.

Cap it at 30, allow R50s to still wear their gear, and carry their skills they have earned from any job level. This would make things rather fun =)

Thing about that though molly there also going to be putting in a dungeon for r50's as well. its not like its going to be missed content if they put a rank cap on the mid game dungeon. I think that you might be thinking that a cap would exclude higher ranked people from participating at all, if its a xi style cap while you were in said area the game would use its math magic to treat you like you were rank x again. You know the more i think about it its probably the most eloquent solution to the balance issue.

Well if it's an R30 dungeon even having a single R50 there would completely screw your SP gains. That's a big deterrent already.

I'm fine with a cap though but I think as Peregrine said 35 would make a little more sense. It's a dungeon designed for R30 people, not for getting to R30.

As others have stated if it's a cap on stats, abilities, etc... then I'm completely okay with that. I'd rather not be 100% locked out entirely once I go past the cap on any given class.

Rank cap is fine, but instead of limited higher rank players from enter, I think it is better to "reduce players rank into 30 as soon as one enter the place". So people with all-classes cap-50 can still do them.


Another things is that I m against the idea of disable all the skills that optimize at 30+ rank. Those skills aren't much better than lower rank skills, just more variety and very little upgrade. If you disable them, instead of bring more challenge, it will only bring more annoyance because they will have to change their skill set just for only one dungeon.

If that is the way they do it, ala XI, then that would be fine. But I still see no issue w/ r50s running through an r30 instanced dungeon for loot. If it's instanced, then the r50s aren't taking anything from other players.

R30 dungeons are designed for R30, not R50.

What is up everyones rear to think they should "control" the game to prevent other people to play the game how they wish?

Honestly the more rules and limitations this game has, the less fun << key word is FUN it is.

I vote for a suggestion that does not mention other players but you personally, as how other people choose to play, (as long as it isn't botting) is no ones concern.


these dungeons will be instanced so personally who cares if A high lvl helps out lower levels.

Gotta understand that once people run these so many tines the less chance they will want to do them again, this limits new players from even running the dungeon. And if they add quests or missions to these. It will skrew over those new players.

I am actually against the cap to some extent but I wouldn't be bothered if they do add one. I would love a chance to try and solo the 30 dungeon on my 50 because some of the NMs I have solo'd are a challenge to my 50 (Archer) and I have a lot of fun doing that kind of thing. They did say some battle changes will come into play and we need to see what those are before people start going crazy about topics like this one.

There are some people though who don't have any 30's left except crafting classes and I guess they would be screwed and not be able to see that content if there was a low/mid 30 cap. I would play both honestly, 50 solo and 30 group, but I totally understand the point of the cap, for challenge sake and for content not to be burned through super quickly.

Am I the only one who likes low level challenges? It's what made CoP such a blast in FFXI.

The level cap on a dungeon would have fewer negatives than it did in CoP, given that high level gear can actually be equipped at lower level in FFXIV ( which was eventually added for level capped situations in FFXI ).

Has anyone, however, considered the possibility that the R30 and R50 dungeons are the same dungeons with a different difficulty setting?

I'd prefer a level sync method instead of a hard cap. But yes I agree that the instances should be designed and restricted to a specific level range. Maybe if you're 25-35 you don't get capped, but once you enter, anyone over 35 will be scaled down to 35 or something.

Thanks for the replies guys, sorry I didn't make the cap thing clear, however I meant this like FFXI caps in which higher leveled players would be scaled down to accommodate whatever level range that specific instanced content was designed for.

Very unexpected. If four years ago you would have asked me if I wanted level-capped content again I would have said heehhhhhhl no. But id love to go wreck something cool on my little marauder.

The game is perfectly set up for such level caps. Gear scales down. They just added easy to get, good midlevel gear. They can design some intense raids for R30.

Capping is so important because otherwise you run into the same problems we have with the stat system. The variance of ability is so wide that the devs are hamstrung on the sweet spot of challenging content.

my guest is that the dungeon will be like this

you enter the instanced dungeon with your group. the first mob is l30 and as you go deeper and deeper in the dungeon the mob gain in lvl until you reach the final boss lvl 70.

it can also not be instanced (i dont care, just need fast respawn).

I bet you 5 buck it will be like that.

Added some relevant tags. Quests involving dangers facing eorzea and balancing of enemy attributes.

I don't care either way.. If an R50 wants to steamroll through an R30 dungeon, let them.

yes, what I meant is exactly like that. so R-50 players can still try all kind of new dungeon SE add later.
but level-sync shouldn't disable any skill or equipment, because it is annoying to change all equipment for one dungeon.

It definately needs a cap. CoP was fun and exciting like that. Now look at it :(
