Is SE going to do something about people's lag?

I know not everyone is having this issue, but hundreds of people are. I have bought a new modem, opened 2 tickets with Brighthouse, had a technician out and run over 50 traceroutes. On tbone.rr.com (Brighthouse uses roadrunner servers) I get no higher than 25-30 MS scores, and more often see 15 MS scores. When I hit congentco.com which appears to be utilized by Ormuco, I get 151+ scores, when I hit SE's IP address for neolobby02.ffxiv.com, I get timeouts!

All signs point to Congentco.com / FFXIV servers as being the issue for my latency problem. I am at my wits end and I have no idea what to do, my connection scores are 15 MS, 46 MBPS Down, 2.20 MBPS up.

I called your technical support, and the guy told me to go out and buy the latest hardware from NVIDIA and (A new graphics card, top end) and that will address my ping time. When I told him that I run at 60 FPS at all times, even in endgame content, he told me then he doesn't know what to do and to run a DXDIAG, then after giving no further instructions he said "whatever it is, good luck, I have been on the phone too long and I have to go".

Seriously SE, this is abominable and I've been researching whatever laws I can use to make sure you pay me back for all the money I've spent on this.

ps. Yes this is the best MMORPG on the market, but I want to be able to play it, this is not another "I quit" thread.

SE doesn't own or operate your ISP or any other hardware store that sells modems - You can't sue them for spending money somewhere else, you technically aren't even paying a sub yet.

Regardless Tupsi, this is unacceptable and I am aware of that as I said I'm researching the laws (I meant it). You're going to tell me you're going to sit and defend SE on this for doing this to random people?

Also.. my ISP has solid results, like I said I have 15 MS, 46 MBPS Down, 2.20 MBPS average.

The only thing I'm "defending" is you can't sue SE in any country for money you didn't give them - Meaning if you spent $300 outside of XIV, you can't sue them because you spent $300 on another company (in your case: dealing with your ISP.) I know America and Europe has weird laws, but Japan definitely has nothing that allows you to do that.

SE isn't "doing" anything to random people, it's just the case of where people are connecting from is seemingly causing issues - SE isn't deciding to flip a switch and make Jenny lag out when they see her connect. You're upset, that's understandable, but there's really nothing that can be done since it seems no matter what some group of people will be experiencing issues. For example no one in my FC from EU or NA have issues dodging AoEs, yet people on these forums continually state they can't dodge anything, some from the same country as many of our members.

User ISP is often the reason for any sort of connection problems related to select few individuals. It is possible that there could be some faulty connections based upon the users ISP towards the servers that SE uses, but it's not something that is the fault of SE. Your blame should be towards your ISP (perhaps check with other people in the area who you might know that play FFXIV but have a different provider). It's not like SE goes out of their way to blacklist specific users lol.

I thought that too and I escalated within my ISP. The Tier 2 person I got was very helpful, he's taken all my calls, and ran searches for reports of the issue and could find none. He said they as an ISP do not throttle any gaming service, and that it's in the Terms and Conditions that they will never do so.

Not only this, I've been researching all the data other players like me are posting and they all show congentco.com and tiscali.net as being the culprits, EVERY person who's posted a traceroute for neolobby02.ffxiv.com has shown the SAME STATISTICS of timeouts at FFXIV's IP address.

If you had a service you ran and expected to provide quality support to it's consumers, would you sit back and wait for other companies to address an issue? Or would you proactively go out and say hey guys, I'm sorry this is happening, we got this though--don't spend your time/money on this, we'll make this right somehow, sorry.

What people always miss is routing. My ISP, from Colorado, will go all the way to LA, then back north east to Montreal. This adds some annoying latency, and there's nothing I can do about it since the ISP will not change their peering contracts. Things like this are often bad routing, and it's not something SE can do ANYTHING about.

Common guys unless you live in Australia or the EU or your net traffic shapes and considers the game to be p2p its not your net, its SE and how they handle positioning. Go and read some of the various AOE delay threads and complain in those one instead of making new ones or we will never get anywhere with the stubborn people at SE.

You? Sue square? for you spending money on new modems and the like?

Just because they aren't legally obligated to reimburse us for a game that doesn't work, doesn't mean they shouldn't still try to live up to some level of customer satisfaction and fix the issue and reimburse people who have subscribed and not been able to play like myself.

The AoE delay issues are too common to be blamed on people's connections, this isn't even a connection issue, it's a game issue. When you have high ping, you don't see the damage you deal etc. until the server has received the information, calculated the damage and returned this value to you. Even when I see my damage "instantly", meaning my ping is fine, I still get hit by some AoEs even if I got out a second before cast bar finishes. Sorry, but this is not a connection issue.
