Just wondering if there is ingame voip for groups etc?
The development team has already stated that they don't have any plans to ever add it, either.
I think its kind of dumb. This game could really benefit from VoIP, especially the PS3 users.
Doesn't PSN have VOIP on its own?
Yes they do. It would be nice to have some apps though so they could voice chat with pc groups with less hassle.
should bug sony about a teamspeak 3 app
Please explain to me what built in VoIP Ps3 users have? The only one I have ever found requires you to be in a friend chat, which can not be active while your in a game or anything. Also skype does not work on ps3 either. The problem is dungeon running. On ps3 its hard to effectively communicate with your team. Honestly, I don't think it can be that hard... Borderlands 2 had amazingly easy co-op connection and VoIP.
PS3 users just need to be creative. If you have an Android phone, you can download Ventriloid on the Play Store. It allows you to VOIP by connecting to a Ventrilo server/IP Address. Even better, if you have a bluetooth headset, life will feel pretty good. I don't know what the app is on iOS but if you search the app store for Ventrilo, you will probably find something similar.
I don't see it as a necessity. I played XI for years voice chatting using combinations of Vent, Skype, TS, and XBL chat based on who had what available. Yeah, it's overly complicated but, in my opinion, a good enough solution that SE doesn't need to spend their already-strained resources on it.
(Although, believe me: trying to use XBL chat with a wireless controller, included headset, and a silver account while playing on PC is a pain in the ass)
Also, Teamspeak has an official Android app as well.
Yoshi already said that he isn't going to do it, mainly because there are third party programs you can use for free.
Also because there are allot of MMORPG's out there that have a built in Voip program, but no one ever uses them because there are third party programs out there that you can use for free that does the job so much better.
