How many Versions of the Story Are There? (Spoilers)

So the two big differences between your story are if you're a legacy character or not. Supposedly, 1.0 characters are warriors of light...

It was confirmed in http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...s-Story/page19 that you did not get the legacy intro if you did not complete the quest United We Stand in 1.0.

I did not do this quest so I did not get that intro, but my 1.0 character does have the legacy tattoo on the back of his neck/back, and in the last story mission I did, Minfilia says she believes that I'm a Warrior of Light.

So, does this mean that 1.0 chars that did not complete United We Stand are still Warriors of Light and will get a unique ending, or is Minfilia saying she thinks you're a warrior of light just normal story for 2.0 chars as well?

I believe that the warrior of light line is normal for 2.0 characters. She seems to be implying that the new adventurers are a new group of warriors of light, not necessarily the same warriors of light as in 1.0.

It'd be good if someone with a 2.0 character could confirm whether or not they've been called a warrior of light by Minfilia. - Or are you a 2.0 char?

Finished main story and I know she (and the Grand Company Chiefs) mentioned champion many times but as I recall, we only remember her of the Warriors of Light.

non legacy and i've been called a warrior of light at least 2 times in the main story quests, at first she said i reminded her of the old warriors of light (1.0 players) and later on she called me a warrior of light i think in the last big cutscene? idr

They call me a Champion and I remind Minfillia of the Warriors of Light, but I don't remember them calling me a Warrior of Light

There is a big difference, when you met Minfilia the first time did she straight out go "Sorry that I treat you as a stranger, but it seems i'm the only one who remembers you"?

I don't think so but I honestly can't remember, I'll have to check when I get home. That would be viewable in the Inn wouldn't it?

There is a huge reference from Cid if you were a 1.0 player who completed United we Stand. The final scenes specifically referenced he already knew that I was one of the previous Warriors of Light, and he kept this information hidden until the very end when the shrouded memory was lifted from the Scions.

The Scions concluded that Cid already knew that I was a Warrior of Light. He confirmed it. As a 1.0 player, I was pretty happy about this after going the entire story being a shrouded memory to everyone, having knowledge all along the way that everyone was talking about me without even knowing it.

The impression I get as a non-Legacy character is that I'm supposed to be a new hero, in the vein of a Warrior of Light. It's more like stepping into a role than being a reincarnation. Frankly, they leave it a bit ambiguous and for that I'm glad. As someone who is non-Legacy, I'm happy with the way they did it. If they'd pushed to being a reincarnation of a 1.0 player (i.e. not me), that would have been a bit irritating. Due to there being two story lines (and no Legacy characters on my server), this has been solidly avoided.

I'm still kinda curious as to where the other 1.0 characters stand as far as lore goes. Like, there's the 1.0 characters who got the new cutscene, people like me who didn't, and then the new 2.0 players.

I guess everyone gets to be a Warrior of Light in the end though, just curious about the story at this point. :)

well from what I understand there are 3 different questlines, all 3 differ slightly but not that much, its only how the NPC recognise you as, theres the warrior of Light the ones that Beat White Raven, theres the Meteo survivors the ones that didnt beat White Raven and then theres the new characters created in ARR.

Warrior of Light get responses like "you look Familiar"
Meteor ones get ?
New Characters get ?

I dont know the second and third ones since I havent restarted or had a character that hasnt beated white raven.

I didn't beat the White Raven and I got the "You look familiar" story sequence. If the quest "United We Stand" was the qualifier for that sequence, then you just had to destroy the transmitter not beat the White Raven.

After beating the current story just to update, I'm fairly certain, even though my character is 1.0 and has the legacy tattoo, as far as my story is concerned I'm like every other 2.0 character. Which isn't bad, I wasn't actually playing 1.0 when the "world ended" so I can't be too upset about being left out of it. It seems like 2.0 characters are all warriors of light though, just new ones.

I was confused by one cutscene though, the one where apparently I go back in time and give Cid his goggles, what was that about? I don't ever remember doing that, lol.

ofc not because that in the present, in the "now" you go into cid's past with the echo and somehow he sees you there.

the given discription is that you can use Echo to travel the memory of the said person they can see you and intract with you just as you can interact but cannot change anything, but can help person change their preception of events that took place, so what you did was give Cid symbole of his memories i.e. those glasses, they helped him recover his memories think of it like bread crums you just went into his memories and left the bread crums from him to follow so that he can remmeber what he forgot in first place.

Yea, you had to get past United We Stand to get the 1.0 storyline for ARR.
Anybody who didn't didn't, we get the same story as 2.0 players. Kinda sucks but nothing people can do but be mildly annoyed, since nobody seems to remember being told about that qualifier before the one thread in General Discusion. :/

Is there really any differences in storyline no matter how minor ? Because I havent seen anything in this thread that 2.0 players dont get.

I haven't played with a new character, so I can't what all the differences are. Here are two that I know are different and one I'm guessing is.

In the opening movie returning characters appear in the same place as the Midlander's party in the movie and walk to your starting city instead of being on the carriage/ship.

In "Scions of the Seventh Dawn" Minfilla tells returning players:
