So I have about 100+ names on my blacklist - all gold spammers. Literally you can't see any chat in cities due to these ass holes.
SE - Can you PLEASE ban these guys - ban the IP, permanently. Heck, ban the account they're on.

Although I wish they would just ban them, 90% of my gripes would go away if they simply added a blacklist option by clicking on their names. It's getting incredibly annoying that I have to attempt to make out a name like dadfsadf lqwhfsadf exactly as it is flying by along with 5 other spammers with similar names. It's getting to the point to where I'm considering quitting.
SE as a company could shut many of those sites down by going after their hosting companies and/or domain registrars. They could also go after their payment processing if they were serious.
They need a dedicated team with nice shiny ban-hammers. I think they are still playing catch-up with issues from launch, so they don't have the appropriate resources dedicated to this issue.
But to be honest, it's not SE's fault that the gold sellers are here. STOP BUYING GIL!!!! If no one spends money on gil, gold farmers go away.
We just need a right click name, ignore feature.
People should just stop buying gold from them. But since there is a lot of losers sponsoring those frigging spamers, then we won't ever git a rid of them.
A quick bandaide would be to put a limit on how often you can use /shout every 15 - 30 seconds or so. Like.. 2 times or something.
Having a bot/gilseller spam 30 times in all of 10 seconds makes my brain hurt.
Please, please put a /shout cap within a certain time frame in quick please?
Unfortunately the right click and blist option are only a band-aid to the problem. SE would benefit from taking a page from Blizzard's book and adding a "block" and a "report" option to the context menu you get from clicking a name. The report feature as it exists is unnecessarily long and asks for information that by all rights should auto-populate in the report. Add a drop down menu with reasons like "Spam" "Real money trade advertising" etc. SE doesn't have to worry about reading each one because the system can sort by complaints and forward them based on relevance to the proper people.
I'm really confused.... Final Fantasy XI had a system in place which, to my memory, did a pretty damned good job of blocking tell/shout spam from RMT... As in, after they implemented it, I never saw a tell bot again... How has this not carried over to XIV? I seem to remember it having some flaws, but I'm fairly certain I didn't imagine the whole thing, did I?
Flag their account so the game treats them as mobs and allows players to kill them whenever, wherever. This will be a great stress-reliever, we'll want to kill them like it's a hunt. We'll be begging for an ad to be spammed in chat so we can hunt them down like animals, slaughtering them dishonorably because they don't deserve anything better. I vote for this rather than a mute/blist/ban. I demand blood.
Make them drop 1 tombstone on death too.
Ok it is official gold spammers have crossed the line. You people keep telling us to just blacklist them yes? Well 2 people are literally spamming in competition in Uldah on the Behemoth servers as we speak and that is not the most shocking part. They are ON MY DAMN BLACKLIST!!! RAWRRRRR *flings controller at wall* Even worse there is a 3rd guy spamming that a particular site "Pvpba" is a scam alert like a bot. Are they now fighting amongst each other for scraps now? rrrrr -.-
They need a cap on messages in open channels. That is a no-brainer. They need right click context report/ignore functionality. Also a no-brainer.
These two things alone would add a huge amount of relief to the community but in addition to that they need to figure out a way to ban players who buy this gil. Implement a flag for accounts that trade other players more than 50k gil (or whatever amount seems appropriate). Then they can cross-reference the names in the transaction with names on a global blist and determine if it's an RMT transaction and BAN BOTH THE BUYER AND SELLER. Once it gets out that you WILL be banned permanently and lose all your characters the market will largely dry up. Until they address the demand for this it will not go away. Anyone who buys this shit deserves to be banned first offense and good riddance.
It's a mess, that's all I can really say about it...hopefully this gets resolved, the chat is literally unusable with this crap going on.
You can't get rid of the sellers if you don't get rid of the buyers. Monitor transactions and start cleaning up the trash with the banstick.
As was suggested earlier, I love the idea of being able to kill these RMT characters ;)
A friend and I were talking about this earlier today. They should make it an RMT FATE in the 3 starting cities. Once the server pegs someone as RMT, a fate icon pops up over the head of the character and everyone in the zone gets notified and shown the location of the offender and we all get to destroy them! Once they are dead, the account is then banned.
And if that isn't enough... A special FATE happens when someone buys Gil from an RMT and we get to go after both characters involved in the transaction. Once they are both identified, they are stripped of all Gil and items. When they are killed, said Gil and items are distributed between everyone involved in the FATE.
I know something like this will never be implemented, but I would love to sit in town and take care of these scumbags ourselves. Much fun could be had at the expense of these people lol.
i have to block multiple of those annoying spammers everyday , and they keep creating new accounts and spamming me PM's , im on their spam list already :(
