I'm looking to begin working with iLvl70 materials soon (coke, potash, etc.) and was hoping I could pick the brains of anyone who has already tackled these materials in 2.0. I was planning to wait until I had enough tomstones for 9 coke myself, to get a feel for the synths before I start investing, but if I can gather enough info ahead of time I see no reason not to just get into buying mats.
I'm sure there are others who would benefit from anyone posting their experiences, so I thought I'd start a thread, if anyone has already started a similar thread, feel free to direct me there.
Currently I'm sitting on 347 craft 338 control 336 CP, with access to Ingenuity II & Innovation as far as notable high level abilities. My current synthesis results with ☆ (iLvl 55) synths is 1/3 HQ mats = 80%-100% HQ, >1/3 HQ mats = 100% HQ.
My current plan/assumption is that HQing the ☆☆ 40 durability mats is nearly impossible, and that I will not be risky on these synths at all. I plan to attempt to HQ the intermediary mats (clasps, blades, etc.) and of course, use all HQ mats along the way (other than tomestone items.) But I'm curious what sort of HQ rates people are able to achieve on the various intermediary and final items. Both with and without HQ intermediary items.
If you can post your general HQ rates on these items, what abilities you are using, and what your stats are, I and hopefully many others, would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

09-13-2013, 11:41 PMLiuKangI came here just now to inquire on this very same topic. I'm a level 50 Leatherworker with 358 craft / 333 ctrl but I have yet to craft any two-star items. When I put HQ hippogryph leather into the hard hippogryph recipe it only has 217 out of 2921 quality. Has anyone been able to craft these mats HQ or is as impossible as it seems?Quote:

for ☆ particular strategies we have learned through leveling work very well some do not. I have had a friend hq 10/20 hippos from normal mats using the stall method by using hasty touch and waste not II to rack up as many ranks of inner quiet as he can with out using CP to pop Byregot's Blessing on good or excellent condition and then restore durability to complete it. My method use Inner Quiet followed by steady hand then great strides basic syn twice if no good or excellent condition pop ingenuity then advanced touch. Great strides again wait for a good or excellent another advance touch. Rinse repeat till no cp or till 10 durability complete. Now I do not have that many crafts levelled so I know things like Rumination would improve my ability to wait for the condition and byregot's blessing to have a 200%+ increase and hasty touch to up inner quiet for free and just rapid syn to finish. So I think condition manipulation is the key.

Yeah I don't have any problems with ☆ whatsoever, just looking for people with experience with ☆☆ recipes to confirm/deny my assumptions. I can't exactly do a dry run with NQ mats on something with that pricetag to see how much progress I'm going to get per swing etc. Curious what kind of progress people are getting per swing, particularly with Ingenuity II, and what their craftsmanship is at.
This seems to be intentional, as in 1.0 you had to HQ the blades to even use them, etc. forcing you to use an NQ mat in the final synth. 1 NQ mat shouldn't be a huge deal based on my synth experience, but I have no idea on what different level ☆☆ recipes might be, what was your experience with the intermediary and final product?Quote:

With your stats you need 3 steps on 40 dura and 5 steps on 80 dura.
It's actually possible to hq lets say hard hyppo leather with a little bit of luck and the right skills. With all the mats in hq I already had 50% of hq for my tunic which makes it just really easy to 100% it then (about 1500 quality). -
09-14-2013, 09:03 AMRamseyThank you for the response! It seems like it shouldn't be a big deal to HQ the final products then, whether I can HQ the 40 durability recipes. I always use ingenuity for progress anyway, so I should be able to 1 off the progress on the 40 durabilities. That's sort of what I expected, but I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some factor I wasn't accounting for before I go sink a bunch of gil.Quote:

So to post my own findings, I finished the ingot in one stroke with ingenuity II, got the blade to 80% HQ but still NQ'd it, got the Mailbreaker to 100% HQ with an NQ blade and finished with 10 durability to spare.

I'm not sure I like how Ingenuity 2 is so important for crafting 2 star items.
It's not an easy skill to get, and Ingenuity 1 isn't really good. -

Edit : Stupid double post.

09-15-2013, 08:14 AMRamseyMany crafts have excellent level 50 skills, the fact of the matter is, the more you have leveled the easier it will be. I wouldn't say Ingenuity is necessary but it's certainly one of the better skills.Quote:

Oh I know, I maxed Weaver and Culinarian and while their skills are good they're not mandatory at all.
Ingenuity 2 seems to be another story considering it makes filling the progress bar much easier.
Maybe Steady Hands 2 + Rapid Synthesis could give good results. -

I know that's what some of the other crafters in my FC use.
