First things first. People are allowed to leave whenever, where ever, for any reason and get hit with a 15 minute cool down on any dungeon, guildhest, or primal battle. Only the first leaver gets hit with it, so it's nice that you aren't penalized if you didn't leave first.
However, the penalty isn't enough. Especially in a primal battle. I don't think I've been in a garuda fight where someone hasn't left upon one wipe. It is, admittedly, frustrating when I have to wait in queue for over 30 minutes as a dps ( I have to btw, for relic.) Just to get to the first sisters in this phase, get wiped, and someone leaves. Guess what? party is ruined. You can not add any new players to a primal battle. If someone leaves it's done. And there isn't anything you can do about it.
A lot of people would say to run with your FC, or your linkshell. Sad part is I don't have very many people that are at this level of play, so I'm forced to use the duty finder. However, such a small and easy fix is my bane to beating Garuda, as the same novice mistakes that can be rectified through instruction, teaching, and several wipes cause someone, usually a tank or healer, to instantly leave. They get stuck with a 15 minute queue, wait it out, queue. and STILL get in before I, as a dps, can anyway.
Problem: Penalty for leaving primal battle and ruining a party of 7 other people.
Fix: Penalize the leaver with a dungeon queue cool down Equal to the time remaining of the primal battle they left from and Allow new players to join an in progress primal battle upon a wipe at the moment of it's resolve, filling that player's slot and giving them a chance to run

This would punish the people who have the misfortune of getting trolls into their parties. I've had a few people ruin HM Titan runs by standing in Weight of the Land on purpose, some tanks that purpose draw aggro from Chirada/Suprana in HM Garuda and cause the healers to die.
It would be effective in most situations, but it would also cause the unfortunate to eat a queue cool down of well over 90 minutes. -

That is a different problem with a different fix and has nothing to do with my thread. That requires a kick function. Which, kicking in primal already means you insta lose the fight and have to requeue.

Just curious as we went into Titan HM as 6 members of the same FC last night and though we were a bit low on dps for the heart, the fight didn't seem that bad.
Just don't stand in landslide and weight of the land, and stay away from about to blow up bomb boulders seems to be the only real patterns to the fight other then the heart and gaol (which admittedly is usually horribly timed).
Is DF people the problem or it's really that hard? -

For HM Titan, the fight is very simple after the patterns are learned. The fight really should be able to make it into the heart phase every time. Problem is that lots of people do things in Titan, and there isn't much room for error due to the sheer amount of damage he does. You can technically blame all deaths on the people who died unless the tank lost aggro or the healers couldn't outheal tumult.
In short, it's an execution problem and it seems that a lot of people are horrible at that.
I've been in many parties, and none of them have killed Titan due to people being really stupid and making horrible decisions which cause our team to wipe. -

Adding players in an in progress primal fight wouldn't solve anything. Does anyone know a healer or a tank who queues with the "Join party in progress" checkbox checked? From experience in other dungeons, in progress parties are almost always disasters; half-empty parties, low timers, multiple wipes (so you can't be sure if the problem person is still there or not).
I'm a dps and I don't even queue in progress anymore. Why would a tank/healer with instant queue ever bother with a subpar party?
For the longer leave penalty, it would just cause more griefing (early pulls, MPK) or simply just disconnecting. It takes 15 minutes for a disconnected person to be "kicked" out of a party and get a leave. At that point other people will have left already because it simply isn't doable with 7 people.
EDIT: Also, the main problem for so far has been that the duty finder just pulls people from the 3 roles and puts them together without any rhyme or reason. On Ifrit, I could always tell a wipe before even starting the fight just looking at the party composition (not even gear since gear's pretty damn irrelevant for Ifrit). I don't think I've ever managed to clear the nails without a SMN/BLM in the party. 2 warriors is almost always a clear sign of a wipe, too. With a "smart" duty finder that wouldn't put 4 melee DPS in one party, I'm pretty sure 99.999% of my wipes and leaves would have been avoided. I can't really comment on Garuda though as I haven't done it (and Titan DF sounds like the worst idea ever). -

Well, if they take your advice on the harsh punishment, then I think they should also allow vote-kick. If the entire party votes to kick you out, then you should receive that punishment. Will it get abused, maybe, but nothing is perfect.
