Hooray For Auto-Disconnect! ( Seriously)

I am delighted to see that SE has implemented an AFK-kick after 30-minutes of inactivity. We needed that from Day-One.

Now we all have a much better probability of being able to log on without having to wait in a queue!

First of all - too late now as since the last maintenance I've not noticed a single issue with loging in basically instantly anyway and - secondly - do you really believe that those who want to stay AFK more than 30 minutes intentionally wouldn't know how to arrange it / overcome the auto disconnect feature? Tsk. There are already scripts out there available to push a few buttons for you exery 15 - 20 minutes. This resolves basically nothing in a big picture.

The needing part is debatable. After all of their maintenances to fix server issues, I haven't had any issues logging in, even during peak time. The most I've queued I think is 5 and I was still able to make it into the game in under a minute or two. All this really fixed is people can now stop creating threads about needing an afk kick but in return, we now have threads whining about the 30 min afk kick.

But whats the point? Why make the script? What does staying logged in get you? Now that no one has issues logging in it serves NO purpose.

There are no macros or scripts for ps3 ;) I'd say this will help, besides entering a city filled with living statues is depressing and takes away from the atmosphere of the game. This is needed in more ways than one and I am glad it's finally in the game and MANDATORY :-)

Alot of people are complaining that they can no longer queue up for a dungeon and AFK until queue pops but seriously, who did that anyway? You AFK and you might get lucky with the queue pop and miss it then you have to wait again. Although there are no log in problems anymore I do believe what Deathwhitch said that it will probably give more of an atmosphere due to less statues being around!

Some dungeons you knew there was a 45 minute wait and so I did things such as use the bathroom, get a snack, talk to family in the house, while keeping the occasional eye on things. Granted I did that less once more servers were added when logging into dungeons was quicker. Which comes back to the point, people were logged in AFK because the queue system did not work properly. So instead of fixing things important to the game (People turning off shouts to avoid the gil seller spam problem) they make a show of fixing something which is not broken.

Great job SE! Your PR department is as skillful as a politician.

I highly doubt most people queue up for a dungeon and then leave the game completely. If I was to wait for a dungeon and wanted to go do something, I'd play on my computer or watch tv but I can still see and hear my game. Most PC players will keep the game up or in this day and age, I'm sure a lot of people have dual monitors. For PS3 players, it's pretty much the same thing.

Who cares - someone want to be logged on while AFK more than 30 minutes it's his / her choice.

No macros but you have other tools avialable, from simple controller with autofire to some other more advanced ones ...

Many people simply AFK in their Inn rooms anyway so that doesn't bother me much or at least not much more if someone in a public space was AFK-in for only 29 minutes ;)

As a conclusion - I personally see almost zero benefit in having this feature implemented since the last maintenance I'm not aware of any issues with login into the game and it's more like a placebo for all those who were before begging and screaming for this feature to be added. And again - if someone want to AFK they will despite any countermesures and the minority who AFK-ed "unintentionally" will not make that much difference if disconnected after 30 minutes. You're more likely to be DC-ed due to the lossing connection to PSN or internet anyway in a long run. The impact to on other players is minimal.

I beg to differ in these "No more log in problems". This might be applicable to your respective servers. As far as I am concerned, our group experiences log in problems on the JP Worlds. (Yes, sucks to be us.) I also agree that this feature won't cause a big impact when all those magic tools are around to keep you "active" in-game as you do something else...

Gilgamesh, Hyperion, Leviathan, Diablos and Excalibur are among the most populated for NA/EU. I have characters on 3 of the 5 I listed and have zero issues logging on every no matter what time I try to log in. Log in issues are gone.

Perhaps they could have a way for the auto-kick to trigger even with Macros running so that spmbots keep getting logged out

I saw it ALL THE TIME, people just standing there not responding in town, I'm sure many did do it in an inn but just as many if not more DID NOT. All the excuses in the world don't change it, a city crowded with unresponsive players is bad for the game, point blank period. Having a second monitor or playing netflix while afk does not make you an active player, at best your the standing still guy that MIGHT occasionally notice something in the chat box, thats not the same as an actual person playing the game and moving about the city like a living human being! I swear some of you guys use the most piss poor excuses

If you don't count the Macro as activity, then yes, they do tend to be idle.
