The notes they posted we're just the fixes I think, i'm sure the full notes will be added in the next hour or so
I hope so cause they shouldn't state new content and then really have it be just a afk booter! XD
Does anyone think that they will start early at 2am PDT again or 3am?
most likely 3am.
Of you click the link in one of the threads they talk about a lot of fixes. Sadly on phone now so copy paste is not working well
Yes but that said this before the maintenance.
At the following time, in order to add new content to Worlds, enhance instance Worlds, further enhance Duty Finder performance, and to address several confirmed issues, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds.
Yeah I clicked the patch notes.. there is literally NOTHING new "content" wise.. so that's out. Secondly, the TOP priority of this game was completely ignored.. Gil Sellers will still be completely flooding EVERY channel 24/7 untouched with no way to fight back except a ridiculously over-complicated ignore function followed by an even more overcomplicated report function.
I SERIOUSLY hope a complete UI overhaul is next on the agenda.. cause FFXIV's user interface is one of the worst I have EVER encountered in my 15+ years of MMO gaming.
Agreed. If they state fixing bugs is adding new content I think us paying customers deserve a formal apology. Specially since we probably still can't right click Gil seller names and then block or report. They need to fix more than plenty of things and that 27 MB download doesn't seem much of a new content update!
Not going to argue semantics. Content doesn't always mean new zones or the like you know
What absolutely KILLS me is they've been hearing the UI is garbage for YEARS... YEARS now. There is absolutely NO reason at all they haven't even addressed the community about the issue. It was garbage in the original.. and instead of scrapping it all and re-doing it.. they pretty much kept the same thing!
Alot of people will tell you its a community, or bugs, or content etc that can make or break a game.. while some of them factor in.. it's a friendly User Interface that keeps people coming back. WoW's UI was TERRIBLE when it first launched, and I remember not even a month in, they completely re-did it, then opened it up for User addons.. which is STILL one of WoW's greatest strengths. It's UI is flawless almost to the point of perfection.. and it's almost 10 YEARS OLD.
FFXIV goes thru a launch, a crash, a rebuild, and a relaunch.. and NONE Of them thought "Wow.. ya know.. maybe pushing 10+ buttons just to ignore someone ISNT the best we can do here?" OR "ya know.. maybe they might like the ability to manipulate their own quest like MMO's since.. (Hell even *I* cant remember that far back.) EQ2?, WoW, Guild Wars, GW2, Neverwinter.. errhmm... yeah. "Oh yeah, they'll LOVE trying to nail down Rllllllllllllll FIIIIIIIIIIlIII typed in the blacklist and then reported." "What could be simpler then having a useless "retainer" that they design from the ground up.. and nobody ever sees again?" "Oh let's not forget that Market.. cause it's packed with awesome features like over-complicated searches you have to fine tune 10+ different buttons to see anything!"
At the moment they just want to fix it so everyone can get into the game. I have no doubt that Gil sellers are near the top of the list if not on the top already. Ul'dah is getting worse every day on my server. Now they only have the same bot up for an hour before they delete it and send in a new one to get around my blacklist. I honestly am concerned about it. But I also know SE is working on it. They are working 24 7 to fix things. Its coming just not this patch.
Believe me bro, more then ANYTHING, I want this game to succeed.. I love it. I suppose in a sense that is WHY im so angry about it. NOBODY here... (and I do mean NOBODY.) can say they did NOT see this one coming. Gold Spammers are the bane of EVERY MMO released for.. well.. since they first got started. Not only did FFXIV completely IGNORE them.. they've DEALT with them before!!! FFXI *had* gil sellers.. so it's literally something they've had to confront on at LEAST 1 prior occasion.
It's getting so bad I dont even go into town anymore.. and the gil sellers are already accounting for that, as they now are parking spam bots in almost EVERY town on the map.
I guess it's just frustrating to see a 12 hour downtime.. and all they do is a 27mb patch that doesnt address what has to me (IMHO) the community's primary concern.
actually it was a 9 hour down time.
Oh I am.just as frustrated. I just don't rage on the Devs like a lot of players do. (Not saying you are)
I imagine their team is very small at the moment. You have to admit, they did not expect the numbers to be anywhere what they are. So now a team designed to deal with a handful.of servers is now being stretched to cover even more, and the players are nearly double what they thought they got so its double the tickets being sent in.
I can only theorize this seeing as I don't work for SE. I could be dead wrong. I "Think" that they probably are hiring more people to combat the influx in players. But that all takes time and while it has been three weeks, in dev time it has been hardly any time at all. It takes a lot of manpower to make the changes players are demanding.
Man take a chill pill and disable general chat for the the time being. Join a linkshell and or a FC and u wont see any spam at all.Eventually this will be addressed and i reckon server stability, people to be able to login or even purchase and play the game are top priorities for the moment. Its not like they got a magic wand and stuff gets fixed. I couldnt even go to an instancewith my FC group this past week due to ridiculous DF queues reserving an instance. Now thats gamebreaking which they fixed. So give them some credit and w8 a while longer.
New content =/= New things for us to do, especially not right this minute. This isn't a content patch. Content patches are labeled as Patch 2.1, 2.2, etc. This is just a small maintenance. If they added any new future content, they didn't make it accessible. Similarly, Moonfire Flaire content was added in a maintenance far before the event was live, which is how they were able to activate the event without a maintenance.
Secondly, what's wrong with the UI? It has the most customization I've ever seen for an MMO, and in the future, user plugins.
They Repathed the monsters in AK to prevent 'Speed Runs', so technically that's 'new content'.
They also reduced costs of Repairs and Dark Matter drastically.
That's not a content ...
And frankly - I can't really understand this urge / need for AFK booter anyway - whoever is AFK-ing intentionaly would know HOW to avoid it plus since the last maintenance it isn't issue anymore so let the devs to concentrate on something more usefull instead.
While I am not level 50, I never found it that spendy. Especially when there is very little in this game that encourages you to spend large amounts of Gil. I have 50k Gil on my main and I have only bothered to buy dyes so far. Everything has been more or less provided to me by either dungeons or quests.
Do I REALLY have to dignify this with a response... seriously? Anyone else wanna field this one? Here's a hint Kari... just because you can move the windows around.. does NOT mean it's good UI.
A GOOD UI is about function and form. The MORE clicks and buttons you have to push to access a function, the WORSE a UI is. The less options you have regarding customization of UI elements, the WORSE a UI is.. now realize that FFXIV has absolutely NO customization of UI elements, and requires as many as EIGHT button and key presses (not counting typing out names) just to ignore and report a gil spammer... you'll start to get the general idea.
Yeah.. thanks for making my entire argument for me. Appreciate that homie. Now re-read your own sentence a few times, and you'll start to understand WHY people are annoyed. ALL MMO's have spambots... ALL MMO's have systems in place to combat them... except the brand new just launched 2013 FFXIV.. I (and many others) feel like we've been tossed back into SOE's EverQuest. In 1995.. ya know.. decades ago.
Or is your next line going to be "Well how could they POSSIBLY know they'd have spambots!?"
In which case... please.. don't
The promise was big content patches every 3 months after release, with small ones in between that may or may not add anything new. But looking at their 2.1 patch.. lets see. another primal diffculty tier, hard mode for 2 dungeons, a 24 main raid, and housing that probally will be stupid expesnive. Only really new thing is the housing and the 24 man. I just feel that SE got really lazy with ff14ARR, the game is bascally world of warcraft with a FF skin over it Least combat class wise anyway.
/blist add "User Name" (pops up Confirm for adding)
/blist (pops up blacklist page)
The UI is just fine. It is Customizable. If you really wanted, you could put a BLACKLIST ICON on one of your Hotbars.
2.1 Patch:
PVP, Housing, New Retainer Bells (in some sanctuaries), New Market Boards, Crystal Tower (24 man Raid), Coil of Bahamut (24 man Raid), new HARD / EXTREME mode Primal battles and Dungeons... And probably a lot more they haven't even revealed yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Class get added.
Go in paint and draw me a picture of what you would make the UI like. I find this UI pretty nice. You can make things smaller or larger. Move them anywhere you want. It doesn't have anything that is unnecessary and I can't think of anything that you need that isn't there. The only issue could the need to cycle on PS3 verses PC having them all on screen, but that comes with the system and honestly it isn't that much of an issue.
Also side note: They are adding a report from the chat feature. They haven't said when, but Camate did mention they are looking into how to implement it soon.
