The buddy pass is, in essence, a retail copy of the game. I don't think anyone is going to just give one away.

As for my opinion of the game, here you go:

It is worth my time. They shouldn't charge people for it yet, but if they did, I'd pay.
There's little feeling of epic goals in it yet, but it has a wonderful atmosphere and a good community.
The interface has a slow responce, but the equipment has an excellent design(though we want new ones now).
The combat system in itself is fun, but the stats are somewhat confusing and uneaven.
The music is good - some tracks are stellar, others are mediocre.
There is PLENTY of lore for those interested, and the dialog is great.

Go and buy the game cost 20$ once ps3 is release and this goes p2p i bet it would go back to 30$+

If you have to spend money, then don't. It really isn't worth it right now. Maybe in another 6-12 months.

I am enjoying it, and while it still needs work I do feel that it is worth my time at the moment. SE is making steady improvements on the game, and as long as they keep going forward in this fashion I'll continue to be happy.

In all honesty, people can come here and tell you how much they love/hate the game but they aren't you. You won't know how you feel until you get some time in it, because all we are doing is giving you an opinion based on how we feel. But we might not think or like the same things you like. =)

To me it's worth buying especially since the price has gone down and there are no monthly payments at the moment. I've been playing since closed beta, bought the collectors edition, and I feel with all the free months they have given us while they fix it I've gotten my moneys worth plus some.

I hope you either get a buddy's pass or can buy it and find out if it is something you will enjoy. I'd give you mine, but my husband is thinking of trying it with me and stole it. XD

You still need to find a place to download it. It's not like once you have a pass you get a download link unlike most MMOs nowadays.... :S

I understand that you wanted an opinion and its a smart move, lol I was simply saying take the opinions but don't let them totally make up your mind for you. Your own experience is still the best experience and opinion! :D

I don't know about other servers but I enjoy my server (Mysidia) very much, has a good mix of JP, EU and US players.


Also Cendres is right, you can get the buddy pass but you also need to get the disk from someone and/or find a place to DL it from. The buddy pass was made so someone can give the pass to a friend with the disk after they were done installing, so you basically get two accounts out of one purchase. But, like I said.. if my husband changes his mind I'll let you know.

Talk about being whipped.

I am still having lots of fun in the game. I think it all depends on the person, their level of patience for SE and what they get out of the game. Although there are many haters, I think it is best to give it a shot first and experience it first hand. Of course it helps to have friends in this kind of game, I hear lots of complains about people not having fun because they are mainly solo, but it is not difficult to make friends and join linkshells in this game.

I recommend you buy it. As long as you know in advance that it's an unfinished product in heavy development, I think you'll have a good time. I know I am. :) Go buy the game, and enjoy it. Besides, now is a good time to try out different characters if you are of those who care about the looks/name/race etc. It's free at the moment, but once they start charging again, it will cost extra for each character you have.

The game lacking epic adventure currently. I would say it's sub-par. Your friend might want to wait until more content is added. As it stands, many players find the game boring and I would not disagree. I am looking to the future when this game will meet/exceed my expectations and I am building my character for then. I have no doubt it will come. In the meantime, I do enjoy socializing with my friends. If you want a hit game right this minute; this game might not be for you.

Seeing how SE does not allow you to download the game you can find it online :) google is your friend also utorrent :)

Nah, this site isn't run by those morons that run the TOR forums.

Like some have stated you should get the game if you can but just keep in mind it's pretty much b2p beta. I have fun playing XIV but when it starts getting too much I just take a break since i'm not paying a sub fee anyway. The devs are working hard to improve the game and the major changes are around the corner now.

Weather you like the game or not totally depends on 3 things exactly! Your gaming style, how forgiving you are and how easily you are pleased.

Then this is defaintly the game for you. Its laid back, very casual friendly (even soloable but that'd be boring ey haha), levelling curve is not OMGIWANNADIE but isnt like WTFIHIT50IN2MINS and of course if you stick to guildleves it beats the traditional "grinding".

The game lacks anything but levelling with the odd worth-it NM but if you're just having some fun you can go kill them all, theres like 30 now (including factions). And 20 of them are mid-range for levels 30-40, which can be easily obtained.

You will hit 20 fairly fast, but the rest is kind of paced out. If you enjoy scenery and realism then you'll be happy hunting.

You will need to be forgiving as there are what is known as "typical features" you'd expect an mmo to have which this game doesnt. If you really want to know them look at every thread haha, or you'll just happen to come across one when you need it, eg: Delivery box.

1 thing I do request is please learn 2 things: Fatigue system (youtube it, but it is getting scrapped) and Search Party system (youtube it) and peeps will love you for understanding search party feature.

Also join a populated world, and start in Uldah if you wanna see a person.

I would never prioritize a game above my family's needs. I simply found a solution to my original problem. But irregardless of your opinions on what a marriage should entail, your original comment was unnecessary and off topic. Guys your killing me here. I bought the game yesterday and went to load it up last night. Installed fine but cant update it. Trying to work around it. Decided to see whats happening on the forums, read this and now i'm itching to get on!!!! Can't wait!

I vote for Mysidia which is a great world to be on. There seems to be a good chunk of Besaid followers on the forums but i know nothing about that world.

Mysidia is pretty cool. I was surprised with how many English speakers I've run into while playing, especially when I assumed they were Japanese by their names. A lot of people are super nice too.

Mysidia is sexy. Just sayin'

That the one i went with alright. Running around in the Forest at the moment. Thoroughly enjoyable.
