Don't you love tab-targeting in this game?

I am sure there are plenty of other aspects to tab targeting working well, but this would be a start at least.

Yeah I find it crazy annoying that if it moves even a little out of LoS it prevents you from tabbing to it.... BUT you can tab target and target something off a cliff like in darkhold. *sigh*

I wish it take priority that it Target the closest monster first, instead of randomly everywhere, there is many time in Dungeon and Fate it would Target the mob all the way in the back. Then there is time, it take literally minutes to target the summon bells when I stand right next to it.

My favorite is when I am doing a speed run in AK after the second boss and instead of targeting mobs 5 feet infront of me it targets something on the first floor, 50+ feet behind me.

Yes. It is the worst tab-targetting AI I've seen.

In complete agreement. I mean, I'm fighting this worm drake down in the deserts of South Thanalan right? I tab target to the next mob that's standing right next to me breathing fire and crap. Getting a bit crispy. Fun stuff. But do I target him? Nooooo.
Instead, I've got the MOON highlighted. It's in ORBIT. WHY?! I'm pretty sure I can't reach it. Maybe if I level Dragoon to infinity and use Jump.

The fun part is - it is not actually in LoS it is just obstructed from your screen, but the character has straight visibility of the target and can execute actions.

As a workaround, instead of targeting the bell, target someone standing next to the bell, then select their target (which is probably the bell). Then activate the bell (numpad 0 for PC). Maybe you can create a macro to target and activate the bell, too.

Targeting needs to be updated to select the nearest enemy in front of me, or the enemy closest to where I'm looking, instead of targeting whatever it feels like.

When I go as a healer into fates, sometimes I end up watching people die because it takes too long to target them.
Sometimes I use activate instead of targeting things first. That backfires occasionally when my miner attacks the nearest enemy with a pick instead of mining the nearest node. Probably the game could assume that I don't want to attack peaceful enemies with a pick when selecting a target.

The tab target function is indeed really bad. The range is huge, it will basically tab to any nameplate on your screen even if they're 200 yards away. Additionally, it does not seem to work closest to furthest (like it says in the keybindings menu), instead it seems to go left to right on the screen. Plus it seems like it almost goes out of its way to select stuff you aren't currently fighting.

I'd like to see the range shortened, the LoS requirement (from the camera, not even the character) removed, a closest-to-furthest sort mode, and a bias towards mobs that you're already in combat with.

yea its terrible, iv switched to using target nearest enemy....but that runs into los issues too. stupid adds on the last boss in ampdaor losing on the statues. >;/

Press F12 to target nearest npc. Unless there are minions everywhere then good luck. Use the numpad 4 and 6.
There are loads of targeting options in this game that I had no idea existed until I looked at keybindings.

There needs to be a filter for marked targets. That way what u pull u know u will always target, if u marked at least.

Agreed. It's pretty horrible, but I'd be lying if I said this was the only Asian MMO that had this problem. Honestly, they all have it. I think it might be a preference of theirs.
