Just curious on how many will be taking a break from ffxiv to play gta. I assume it will be quite a few people considering how popular gta games are.

That's the beauty of a MMO. GTAV will end. This game technically never ends/always something to do so it won't negatively affect it in the long run. Only temporarily if it's even noticeable.
i hate gta
I'm sure there will be a slight dip, but I think MMO's and GTA target a completely different demographic. I'll probably play GTA a bit, but I think I'm in the minority of MMO gamers who generally play lots of different types of games.
I think GTA is pretty overrated. But Rowan is right about the whole thing.
I'm planning on playing both, I figure there will be a dip especially with ps3 players.
I highly doubt it. GTA sucks anyways.
And even if people do leave for GTA, it would probably only be for a week, 2 tops.
Same can be said for when KH1.5, Wind Waker HD and pokemon XY releases.
Cant say the same for when the PS4 and it's luanch titles come out tho.
GTAV has an MMO element this iteration. Looks good, too.
What is this GTA V you speak of? Is that a new boss in FFXIV?
Enter Duty Finder, play GTA V, Dungeon starts, pause GTA V. Rinse and Repeat
I dislike games where you can only be the "bad guy", by design, you have no choice of becoming good, not just a thug/pimp/gangster w/e.
Therefore I always disliked the GTA series, I played 1 and 2 the most, but I was clueless when I was playing them and never bothered with the story and such, so I never got to do the bad stuff.
In 3 I started the story and did side missions (ambulance/taxi... etc, very boring).... I got disgusted by the main story soon enough and I ended up abandoning the game entirely.
I gave 4 a short try, stopped after a few hours.
Many people will play it, so at certain times the load might diminish in MMOs in general (not only FFXIV), but I don't think it will matter much.
The real question is will the population suffer when the first batch of free trial ends? GTA V is just a scapegoat.
Personally, I play more than one game at a time. I don't just stay with one game, so the release of other games won't really impact my attendance on this game :)
My friend wants me to get this game, however I don't have much desire to play it.
One thing for sure is I'm not going to buy it till PC version is release.
Knowing the kind of people who Play GTA, im hoping a certain section of the population diminishes.
Pretty sure all games will take a hit but temporarily anyways.
I'd say WoW's patch on SoO is going to have a bigger impact. I'm gonna be progressing for the next few months so ff will have to stay on hold.
As a PS3 player, GTA won't be a factor for me. On the other hand, I am getting my copy of Diablo III in the mail today, and I anticipate a lot of back and forth gaming in my near future. I am eager to get my console loot whoring on.
Never been a fan of the GTA series. Couldn't ever get hooked on it, for as many times as i tried. Something about it is just...meh.
I'm willing to be there will be a lot less complaints about having no gil at 50 for at least a couple of weeks ; )
