I must confess, I am in love with the level 40ish leather/subligar set.


I am playing a female Miqo'te Monk however, so it meshes very well.

it was discussed with some of my GC members that even darklight armor have subligar, and we were all schocked at the rate of subligar armor there is in game. it's not funny anymore, give darklight pants MNK a Saroual instead of a subligar !! xD

And now you know how those of us who play female characters and find chain bikini ridiculous (not offensive, just extremely silly) have been feeling for years. Personally I take joy in all this male indignation; your tears taste good to me.

I approve of skimpy male armors. My catboy demands equal opportunity in showing bare skin! Just allowing the females to do it would be sexist... :p

It is coming, around the second major patch I think they said.

Sublingers have been a staple of both FF onlines, not sure why anyone is acting all shocked or surprised that they are still there. And I have to love the hypocrisy of the sexually insecure little boys who seem to have no problem with female characters wearing underwear like gear, but are getting all butt hurt because the guys are getting the same treatment. Cry harder, because it's hilarious.

My only beef with it has nothing to do with the armor itself, but mostly just with the constant laughter from my GF when I have to wear subligars. She finds them hilarious and it can be a bit distracting when she keeps emoting grins and laughs at me. XD

Otherwise, I have no issue with them. It was cool when they did it in roman times and in movies like 300 so it doesn't bother me. Particularly on a monk/pugilist... I don't need no stinkin' armor.

The robes are bad as well. I've yet to come across a good armor. Once we get vanity though I'm pretty sure I can throw something revealing and classy together.

Only issue I have with the subligars is that little portion of armor that covers your thighs. It doesn't quite go low enough to reach even knee-high boots making them look really awkward, like the designer wanted to make shorts but couldn't quite make up his mind and decided on leather cut-offs. In FFXI they only had those random belts going across the thigh, didn't look quite as strange.

being female irl, and on my female character, that is a beautiful set, the more like it the better imo.

but if i played a male, then its hideous and somewhat insulting Oo

odd i was noting the awesome armour i get as a gladiator. even at level 8 i had my haubergeon and sarouels and some sorta helm (forget which) and my gladius with my hoplon and was thinking "this guy looks tits" and i see folks dressed like alphonse and think "awesome"
i think gladiator just gets all the cool armour. like the art department at SE focus entirely on making cool armour for the gladiator and then is like "crap we gotta make armour for everyone else too...just give the mages another slight variation on the level 5 robe and the rest...i don't know *grabs something out of the closet* put em in this"

The coliseum gear, subligars and the newest swimsuits look smexy on my cat! Leave them alone, you have -plenty- of other armour options. ;)

I actually really like how they didnt fudge around with the designs to cater to "male" or "female". Yay for equality! I love my skimpy armors. :3 There are a lot of people like me who happen to appreciate that they can be a male character and not have to settle for something "different" just because we're male. Just like I"m sure there are people who appreciate that women can wear fully plated armor like males. Too many MMOs have fully plated armor for males and skimpy bikini armor for females and thats the end of that, and its driven me away from many a game. This game has so many outfit and armor options its really just silly of you to complain.

And you do know yoshiP has nothing to do with the actual character design, right? That's Yoshida Akihiko~ (Who's done art for most of the Ivalice Alliance series art work)

I love all these people who came into this not knowing what they were getting into. FFXI had subligars day one, they are not going away. :3

I made a female character so I dont care. That said, let the ladies have some eyecandy too.

First of all subligar, aka subligaria or subligaculum was a dress code for ancient Roman Gladiators so there is nothing wrong for it to be in this game with various designs, I welcome every single one of them.

For those that don't like subligars, you'll be happy to know that devs are working on a vanity slot system where you characters looks will differ from what you actually are wearing. As for me, I'll be wearing my subligar with pride on every class/job even if you can't see it on me yet, once vanity slots there, subligar 24/7 for me!

the hilarious thing is, I do think it was SE deliberately trolling the player base as they were first added in 1.0 after several months of people whining about "not enough 'sexy gear'... like the swimsuits..." and then along comes the coliseum gear which looked "Sexy"(?) on both genders... and lo and behold people whined...mostly about the male versions.

Thank you SE for making sexy gear for males too, everyone knows 90% of games is the male power fantasy with full plate armor and the slutty girl in skimpy outfits, so this is a most welcome change towards equality in games. If you're complaining that it's "offensive" or "not fitting" then why the hypocrisy? Complain about both gender versions and not the only one that suits your interested, everyone else be damned.

This wasn't directly aimed at you OP, just in general to sexually insecure males that think the slutty outfits only fit females because that's what they like.

Also it's eye-candy for guys too, not just girls.

I'm sorry, but that is simply your opinion, not a fact. Obviously you don't find males attractive, but there are straight females and gay guys who definately find the outfits very sexy (myself included).

Men in skimpy outfits:
"This is an outrage! Who would actually run around killing monsters in strips of cloth? This is a joke right?"

Women in skimpy outfits:

Hey, let's not lump other people in with other people. In the end it all comes down to personal taste, no? I'm all for equality, despite being both heterosexual and male. Although, I feel a bit guilty for being one of the people that requested a male version of the Lightning Farron suit instead of the Snow Villers suit. It's a fantasy game, so do you really care that much about what you slap your character in as long as it's keeping you alive?
