I played a FFXI summoner for years; and am just no hitting 40. Looking to see what the more experienced smn's have to say when it comes to keybinds/macros/etc. Anyone mind sharing what they use?
My main DOT macro:
/ac "Bio II" <t>
/wait 2.5
/ac "Miasma" <t>
/wait 2.5
/ac "Bio" <t>
Cure macro:
/ac "Physick" <mo>
/ac "Physick" <tt>
/ac "Physick" <me>
This will attempt to heal your mouse-over target as a priority. If nothing is selected, it will heal yourself. If you're attacking an enemy, it will heal the target of your target (ie. the tank) without deselecting the enemy.
These are the macros I use:
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <tt>
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <t>
/ac Swiftcast <me>
/ac Summon <me> - Also use for Summons II and III.
/ac Swiftcast <me>
/ft
/wait 1.5
/ft
/ac Resurrection <t>
/wait 1
/p <se.10>Swiftcast Resurrection <t>
^this is in auto translate
And..That's all I really use.
Speaking of the wait command, if I use Surecast from a keybind, I can immediately hit another key and it will work but in a macro I have to put a "/wait 2"
For example, if I want to do a Swiftcast+Physick on myself in a macro I have to use:
/ac "Surecast" <me>
/wait 2
/ac "Physick" <me>
Without the wait command, it just doesn't cast Physick but it casts fine if I do it manually with hotkeys (ie. hit Surecast then Physick immediately after). Is this just a macro limitation?
macros are terrible in this game. It needs fixed before any macro is valid in a PvE situation. They are stellar for professions.
For Pet Maxing Potential:
/ac Spur <pet>
/ac Rouse <pet>
/wait 90
/echo "Rouse Cooldown Reset"
/wait 120
/echo "Spur Cooldown Reset"
For Tank Buffing:
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <tt>
For DPS Burn:
/ac "Raging Strikes" <me>
/item "Mega-Potion of Intelligence" <me>
/wait 180
/echo "Raging Strikes Cooldown Reset"
/wait 300
/echo "Mega-Potion Ready"
I don't recommend macroing a rotation as dots fall at different times and rotation macros will cause you to unintentionally clip, resulting in a loss of DEEPS.
there is an internal 1s cd between being able to pop rouse and spur. yo uwould have to hit that macro twice or - as with most people - spam it habitually. this would reset the echo timing part i would think, making the longer /waits not work properly everytime you hit the macro when the shorter cd ability has refreshed.
i was just wondering if you could make a macro for ruin on target and sic so your pet can change targets quickly, doing so on ps3 has proven difficult since it requires me to spam r1 to change bars.this macro would be useful when i need to kill adds like in the garuda fight.and i cant figure out how to get it work so im posting here.
Anyone know how to macro in rhe obey option? Or any pet ability for that matter
I always Shift +f to focus the tank I know is going to need Eye for an Eye
macro is
/party Eye for an Eye <f> <se.7>
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <f>
/wait 60
/ac "Eye for an Eye" "ready!" in 60 <se.7>
/wait 60
/ac "Eye for an Eye" "Ready!" <se.7>
I don't think any pet macro works (Spur and Rouse do, because they are personal abilities that buff your pet).
I use
/ac "Virus" <t>
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <tt>
Don't spam it, unless you need massive reduction. Rather, press it once then personally keep track.
I like to /micon Virus and just remember 1/3 of the way through (about 1/2 if you don't stack both) you can Eye for an Eye.
Alternatively, keep your "hotbar" actions hidden (or small, off the focus of your screen), and use one hotbar w/o any buttons to actually keep track of cooldowns. This is the setup I use.
My bar has Aetherflow, fester, Rouse (Spur is hidden, it has double the cd of rouse so macro both and count rouses), Raging Strikes, Virus, Eye for an Eye, Contagion, Enkindle.
Also put ruin on your cooldown bar to gauge distances, and to watch your GCD.
I also like to macro enkindle to tri-disaster, as when i would use one i'd like to use the other 90% of the time.
But wait 2.5 will translate to wait 3, leaving you losing dps.
Also, the off GCD abilities won't stack, from what i've tested.
You have to spam them.
I prefer to have much finer control over when I use my cooldowns.
How do I macro in obey tho. /ac "Obey" doesn't work
Hmm, I don't know exactly, but you know how to open your spellbook right?
And the spellbook has tabs, like general, Class Skills, Job Skills, traits, etc.
You should also have a tab, which is below the cross class skills, called "Pet".
Obey and contagion should be on that list, and you should be able to bind them to your buttons normally.
